As I sit here today doing my job, I ask myself if paying the ultimate sacrifice was worth it. As a country so divided, was the fight worth it? The years, months, days, hours, and minutes - was it worth it? The answer to that question is for you to decide. I will live every day as honorably as I can in remembrance of those men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for each and every person. As I lace up my boots and put on my uniform, I will do it with pride and with my head held high, knowing what I do is honoring those who cannot be here anymore, those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

I've noticed numerous inquiries about healthy living in Beaver County, which prompts me to ask: what if we implemented a health department model akin to Allegheny County's?

Key services and functions provided by the ACHD include:
1. Clinical Services: Immunization clinics, sexual health (HIV/STI) testing and treatment, and dentistry.
2. Family Health: Resources for mothers and children, including the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) nutrition program and Nurse-Family Partnership.
3. Environmental & Public Health: Regulation and monitoring of air quality, lead exposure, food safety, and housing.
4. Public Health Emergency Preparedness: Managing infectious disease surveillance, outbreak responses, and community health planning.

Watchdog Wednesday this week gives you the best and worst departments at managing their payroll expenses. The chart shows percentages but some of the dollar amounts for the worst are: Legal Department 5 yr is $100,000 increase, District Attorney 1 yr is up $240,000, Office on Aging is up $663,000 over the last 5 yrs, CYS is up $1.1 million over 5 years.
