Hey Rolla, instead of doing my “monthly goals” post for October, I thought I’d share a quick 6-month update. If there’s anything you think I left out or should’ve added, feel free to comment down below or send me an email 😁

*also slight correction: I was not sworn in on the 7th, but I was elected on the 7th. Whoops!

Our neighboring city, Vichy, threw its annual Fall Festival today and we had a great time. I saw many of the same vendors from yesterday’s Rolla craft fair, and it was a gorgeous day outside! Here are some pics from the event☀️

Thank you Central Missouri Foster Care and Adoption Association for hosting a great lunch and learn on Friday! Mr. Josh Sanders gave an insightful presentation on how impactful advocacy and volunteer work can be for the foster families right here in the Rolla area. Their mission helps individuals in the system every year. If you’d like to learn more about how you can help, visit mofosteradopt.com

At our recent Rolla City Council meeting, we discussed a $200,424 three year agreement for downtown camera sensors.

I asked questions about the cost, the pilot project, how the system was selected, and especially what info these camera-based sensors collect, and how that information will be protected.

I believe residents should have the opportunity to ask questions when we’re spending more than $200,000 and installing new technology in our public spaces. There was a lot of discussion at the meeting, more than can reasonably be captured here, so I encourage everyone who wants more info to watch the last meeting using the link below:

Council is scheduled to vote on the agreement next week. I think Rolla residents deserve to understand what we’re being asked to approve, and I’m curious about the public’s opinion. As always, if you have any questions on the matter, you’re welcome to contact local city staff and officials.

A quick typo correction: I represent Ward 6, but the article had me listed as Ward 1 on accident

Our dogs had a great time today at Rolla’s K9 Plunge! My parents joined Winnie and I as we took advantage of some of the last pools days we have left this year. It was hot, but we had a blast! 🏊‍♀️

Thank you Rolla Parks & Recreation Department for hosting this event! It was awesome seeing how many of our four-legged community members came out 🐾

Whether you vote Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, or anything in between, if you live in Phelps County, I encourage you to come out to the town hall being held later this month at the courthouse.

Unfortunately, because the event overlaps with a city council meeting, I won’t be able to attend personally. But I know several city and county officials who will be there and ready to listen. 🇺🇸

Have a question, concern, idea, or something else on your mind? The mic is yours.

This is your community, and your voice deserves to be heard. Come out, speak up, and make your voice count!! Visit Voters for Informed Action for more info

Years ago, my family took a trip to NYC. While we didn’t get to go up the Empire State Building or tour the Statue of Liberty, my parents brought us somewhere undoubtedly more memorable.

As I stood in the rain, reading the names of the Americans we lost, you could feel the weight of what happened there, in the exact place where the towers once stood.

Today, we honor not only the men and women who lost their lives 25 years ago, but the families, first responders, and countless lives who were impacted on one of our nation’s saddest days.

May we never forget 🇺🇸
