We recently caught up with Sarah Janowitz, Program Director for LifeWise Academy in Hampshire County, to learn more about the program as it begins taking shape locally.

Sarah shares that the Hampshire County Board of Education has approved participation in the program, which allows students—with parent permission—to leave school during designated lunch and recess periods and travel by transportation provided by LifeWise to a nearby off-site location. There, students participate in Bible-based lessons, activities, and discussions before returning to school to continue their regular academic day.

One of the goals is to make participation easier for families by offering the program during the school day rather than requiring parents to coordinate before- or after-school schedules.

🏠 Homeschool students can participate, too. Parents or guardians are responsible for transportation to and from the designated LifeWise location.

Participation is free for students, with the program supported through fundraising, donations, and sponsorships from individuals, organizations, and local businesses.

Sarah also shares some of the feedback LifeWise has received regarding student behavior, relationships, and interactions with others, and why she believes the program can provide a positive addition to a child’s week.
