A big thank you to the Roseville Kiwanis Club for inviting me to speak at today’s meeting! I enjoyed sharing updates on Placer Promise, the Roseville Veterans Hall mural project, and other great things happening in our community.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to connect with people who are so committed to making a difference locally!

The tragic loss of Cherie Dodge has weighed heavily on our Roseville community.

I was grateful to attend a gathering honoring her life and to stand with those mourning her passing. Cherie was so much more than her circumstances. She was a mother, grandmother, friend, and neighbor whose life mattered.

Her death reminds us of the vulnerability faced by those living without shelter and the importance of continuing to build a community where help, hope, and a safe place to turn are within reach.

My deepest condolences and prayers are with Cherie's family and all who knew and loved her.

It was an inspiring morning! I love hearing from local leaders who have been successful in their careers and take the time to share their experiences with the younger (and older) generations. If you are an experienced career woman or a young female professional, and would like to be or have a mentor, let me know. FLAME has a new cohort starting in January!

Tomorrow, we’ll be making a little history as we seal Placer County’s 175th Anniversary Time Capsule!

Inside a historic safe dating back to 1878, we’ll preserve a collection of memories and mementos from 2026 for future generations to discover when Placer County celebrates its 250th anniversary in 2101!

And here’s the fun part… YOU can be part of history, too! Everyone who attends is invited to sign a guest book that will be placed inside the time capsule, preserving your name for future generations!

📅 Saturday, October 10
📍 Historic Auburn Courthouse – 101 Maple Street
🕛 12 PM: Free museum tours
🕐 1 PM: Time capsule ceremony

This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Placer County’s rich history while leaving a little piece of ourselves for those who will call Placer County home 75 years from now.

Did you know that Sierra College has served hundreds of thousands of students over the past 90 years? They are celebrating their 90th anniversary and what an impact they have made on our community! We are so fortunate to have a community college that works hard to meet the needs of our students and our employers. Congratulations and here’s to another 90 years!

Did you know nearly every 12th grader in Roseville gets to participate in Placer County’s High School Voter Outreach program?
Students hear from both major political parties and a local elected official, followed by a Q&A and an opportunity to register to vote.
A big thank you to the Placer County Elections Office for making this happen! Programs like this are a great way to get young people engaged in our community and our democracy. 🇺🇸
