What happens when a major regional institution decides to use its economic footprint to create opportunity?

The workforce of tomorrow is already sitting in our classrooms today.

The question is whether we are building the pathways that will connect those students to the opportunities shaping our region’s future.

At the inaugural Sacramento Hispanic Economic Impact Awards, Dr. Amy Schulz of Sierra College received the Líder of Progress Award for leadership at the intersection of education, workforce development, and economic opportunity.

Her work has helped strengthen partnerships between higher education and industry, creating pathways that better prepare students and workers for careers in sectors where Greater Sacramento is growing and investing.

That matters because workforce development is not simply about filling jobs.

It is about helping people see a future for themselves in industries they may never have imagined entering – and ensuring employers have access to the skilled talent they need to grow.

The strongest regional economies do not wait for talent to appear.

They develop it.

A special recognition for our Chamber and our community!

Today, the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce was honored to receive a resolution from the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month and the contributions of our Hispanic and Latino community to Sacramento County.

We were especially honored to have Sacramento County Board Chair Rosario Rodriguez personally lead the resolution. We are grateful for her leadership, partnership and continued support of our Chamber’s work.

It was also wonderful to have several of our SACHCC Board and Foundation Directors with us to share in this moment. 💙

Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates our culture and history, but it also celebrates what our community is doing today. Hispanic entrepreneurs throughout our region are building businesses, creating jobs, supporting families and strengthening neighborhoods.

Our sincere thanks to the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors for this resolution and for recognizing the businesses, leaders and families who continue to make Sacramento County stronger.

Our community is our region’s economic strength.

A business corridor is more than a collection of storefronts. It is jobs, culture, ownership, identity, and generations of entrepreneurship.

At the inaugural Sacramento Hispanic Economic Impact Awards, we recognized the Franklin Boulevard Business District/Franklin Neighborhood Development Corporation with the Economic Fuerza Award for its role in strengthening one of Sacramento’s most important Hispanic business corridors.

Franklin Boulevard reflects what locally rooted economic development can look like when businesses, community leaders, and public investment come together. As the corridor evolves, the FBBA continues to advocate for the businesses and entrepreneurs who build this part of Sacramento, its economic opportunity, and cultural identity.

This recognition is about more than one organization. It is about honoring the small businesses that open their doors every morning, employ our neighbors, serve our families, and reinvest in the communities they call home.

Economic development starts in our neighborhoods.

What a night at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex ⛳️

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Buenas Tardes at Haggin Oaks last night! The Hangout was the perfect setting for an evening of connection, conversation and a little friendly fun on the driving range.

Our members loved having the opportunity to grab a club, hit a few balls and connect with one another in such a relaxed, open setting. The small bites were plentiful, the conversations were flowing and many continued well past our official end time. That’s always a good sign!

And the raffle prizes made the evening even more fun: tickets to Carín León, Broadway SacramentoWater for Elephants, and a spontaneous addition from our member Kurt with Group Lotus Group, La Ranchera Super Station, who generously added two tickets to see Marco Antonio Solís!

A special thank you to the entire Haggin Oaks team for being so welcoming, responsive and attentive throughout the evening. We appreciate you hosting such a wonderful gathering for our members and community.

Buenas Tardes is about creating space to connect because one conversation can lead to new opportunities. Last night was a perfect example of that.
