Starting January 1, 2027, EVERY California city, county, and city-county must recognize descendants of persons enslaved in the United States as a distinct population by creating a new public employee data category for them.

We fought for this. We won this.
Now we build on it.

• Hayward/Russell City — Reparative Justice Project — Redress Fund established
• Palm Springs — Section 14 settlement: direct cash payments, housing assistance, and business development funding

🏛 County • Alameda County — Approved Reparations Commission recommendations

🎓 School Districts • Berkeley USD — Task Force recommended Lineage-Based Eligibility and cash payments
