IN MEMORIAM: Danny Oliver - End of Watch: October 24, 2014
Shortly after 10:26 a.m., Friday, October 24, 2014, the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department’s Communications Center received radio traffic announcing an officer was down.
Deputy Danny Oliver, assigned to the Problem Oriented Policing unit for the North Division, along with his partner had stopped in a motel parking lot to investigate a suspicious vehicle. Within minutes, Deputy Oliver was gunned down. Subsequently, the suspects went on a crime spree, carjacking numerous vehicles and shooting others including the shooting death of Placer County Detective Michael Davis Jr.
An intensive regional search, by numerous law enforcement agencies, resulted in the arrest of a couple from Utah who had been traveling through the area.

21 years… what a life we have built… tonight after a long day of travel, we had an amazing seafood dinner in Portsmouth, NH on our way to Maine.
Thank you Scott for our life. I am blessed to have you as my life partner & the father to our children. Being your princess is my favorite 👑❤️

What a weekend!! Last year, our friends Tina &Jeff Ingemii asked if we would be open to being the keynote speakers at a CLEO (Christian Law Enforcement Officer) conference for families… of course, we said YES! We have learned that when God opens a door for an opportunity, we step through as much as possible.
At the airport, we ran into friends on our flight! They were heading to parents weekend for their son while we were heading to Boston! Love those small world moments.
We first flew into Boston & drove an hour to Portsmouth, NH, for dinner to celebrate our 21st anniversary. We loved that these dates landed on our special date & gave us a fun way to celebrate! After dinner, we drove to Augusta, Maine, & stayed at a super cute boutique hotel for the night. Friday, we took a fun detour to the Boothbay Harbor to walk around & have lunch. We took a walk on the footbridge & enjoyed the beautiful scenery; we love a good seaside spot. We asked for advice for the best fish & chips & found it at the Footbridge Fish Co & they were right, it was “Wicked Tasty Food!” We had a lobster roll, fish n’ chips & clam chowder. All of our favorite seafood items! 🦞❤️
For dessert, we remembered a fun spot on the way to the retreat in Bangor, Maine, from our last time in the area… Bangin' Whoopie !! Not only are the whoopie pies delish, it is such an awesome name that we had to stop & get a sweet treat or two 😉
We arrived at the retreat Friday night, & the campsite did not disappoint. It is truly in the middle of nowhere & surrounded by God’s beauty. A perfect place to relax & reflect. Many of these families have been coming to this weekend for years, & their kids are growing up together! We would have loved something like this for our boys growing up.
🦞❤️ We were spoiled Friday night because Jeff had prepared lobster rolls for us! He knows it’s our favorite!!! He had a friend catch them on Thursday; he prepared Thursday night & served them to us on Friday… can’t get much fresher than that! Soooo good!! 🤤
Saturday, we had an opportunity to share our story… we had 2 times to speak… so we broke it up with our story on Saturday & then shared our God moments on Sunday. As we have looked back over the last 10 years, it has been incredible seeing how God has continued to show up for us through relationships, etc. We loved the opportunity to have a God-forward talk & share more of that with others.
🌧️ It unfortunately rained Sat afternoon through Sunday so the outside activities were cancelled, but it didn’t spoil the weekend. The view was incredible across the lake & we could actually see Canada on the horizon!
Sunday after our good-byes, we headed back to Boston. There were so many moose crossing signs 🫎 we thought we would definitely see one, we were on high alert! No luck!! ☹️ maybe next time 🤷♀️
No time for any extra stops on Sunday… checked into our hotel, turned in our rental car & headed to bed for our 4am alarm … off to Punta Cana in the morning!!! 🏝️
