The Great Plains Chapter of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, founded in 2009, is a thriving, vibrantly active professional group comprised of law enforcement, mental health professionals, security professionals, educators, private consultants, and others who have recognized threat management as an effective means to address the threat of targeted violence. row every day as news of new incidents of targeted violence across the globe is reported. No community, university, industry, or organization seems to be immune. The Great Plains Chapter provides quality training on a wide variety of topics that are useful to threat managers in any setting. Training, with the exception of national and regional conferences, comes with the price of membership and often is held in Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska, but can be remotely attended also. National and local experts provide state of the art training in this rapidly emerging, constantly evolving field. The Great Plains Chapter is committed to the proliferation of threat management within our communities through training, effective networking, and cutting edge practices like community threat advisory teams. Chapter officers stand ready to assist in the development of programs and teams for all members. The collective experience and expertise of chapter officers and members is an invaluable resource to threat managers in the Great Plains region. In addition to providing excellent networking opportunities for threat managers, the chapter provides active support for members seeking certification through ATAP through study groups and a lending library of the source material.
