โค๏ธ๐ค๐ Memorial Day โค๏ธ๐ค๐
Memorial Day reminds us of the incredible strength families carry. ๐ Today, we honor those who served and the families who gave so much, and we're reminded of why family support matters every single day.
At CFRA, our Family Resource Centers are here for all kinds of families: military and civilian, big and small, in every season of life. Whether you're navigating a new chapter, raising kids, or simply need a little extra support, we're here for you.
Today we pause to remember. Every day we show up to help.

๐ฟ We're taking a moment to breathe.
In the spirit of mental health awareness month, the Child Abuse Prevention Center team will be stepping away to rest and recharge. Our office will be closed from May 23rd through May 31st.
We know that sustainable support starts with a healthy team. We can't pour from an empty cup, and we are committed to showing up for California's families at our very best.
We will return on June 1st, refreshed and ready! Thank you for your patience and understanding. ๐๐

๐ข AB 2441 - Held in Committee
Through months of strong advocacy, CFRA advanced AB 2441 further than many anticipated in one of the most challenging budget climates. On May 14th, the Assembly Appropriations Committee did not vote to move the bill forward. A setback, but not a stop.
This work is never lost. Every relationship built, every conversation held, and every voice raised strengthens the foundation we'll stand on next session.
Stay tuned for updates as we chart the path forward together ๐

โฐ Deadline: May 22nd and we need โจYOURโจ organization's name on our coalition letter.
SB 557 is simple, no-cost to the state, and powerful. It aligns California's definition of Family Resource Centers with the new federal definition โ opening the door to future federal funding and giving us the platform to tell our stories to the policymakers who need to hear them.
We passed the Senate unanimously in February. The Assembly Human Services Committee votes in early June. Let's keep it going.

Knowledge is one of the most powerful tools we have to prevent child abuse. ๐
Through The Child Abuse Prevention Centerโs Training Department, we build community and ignite action by equipping professionals and community members with the skills they need to better support children and families.
In the past year alone, we provided 162 training sessions to over 1,000 participantsโbuilding knowledge in areas like mandated reporting, trauma-informed care, mental health, and family support.
The impact goes beyond the classroom:
๐ Participants feel more confident recognizing and responding to child abuse
๐ Professionals gain tools to support families with empathy and cultural humility
๐ Communities become better equipped to keep children safe
As one participant shared: โI at least know how to start a conversation nowโฆ and how to help.โ
This is how prevention happensโthrough education, awareness, and action.
As we head into Big Day of Giving on May 7, your support helps us continue providing these critical trainings to those on the frontlines.
Early giving is openโjoin us in building stronger, safer communities. ๐
