Had the opportunity to meet some bright and like-minded interns today at the UC Center Sacramento undergraduate research showcase! I heard a ton of great ideas on various policy topics like Education, Housing and Media Reform.

Francisco, an undergraduate from UC Riverside presented research on California’s Latinx student’s college experience in highly segregated & high poverty schools. Diana, an undergraduate from UCLA presented research on how individuals perceive news coverage among different age groups in California. Audrey, also an undergraduate from UCLA presented research on correlations between supportive housing and changes in chronic homelessness in the State of California.

The UC Center Sacramento educates California’s future leaders in the craft of politics and policymaking, while making the expertise of faculty of the nation’s leading university available to decision-makers in the legislative and executive branches of government.

Spreading my passion and love for public service during lunch with a group of eager and driven interns. As a government official, I have a duty and responsibility to spread the knowledge and experiences I have gained to help develop a new generation of civil servants. That is leadership at its finest.
