Desmond Phillips was murdered by police in Chico, CA while in mental health crisis on 3/17/17. We are fighting for Justice for all victims of police violence.
Desmond Phillips was killed by Chico police March 17, 2017. His father called the ambulance to help assist him with his son's mental episode. Desmond suffered head trauma that altered his mental state. Instead of diffusing the situation Chico police tased Desmond and then opened fire on him. They were called the Little Rock Nine, and what they did took more courage than most of us will ever be asked to show. Elizabeth Eckford, Minnijean Brown, Terrence Roberts, Ernest Green, Gloria Ray, Jefferson Thomas, Carlotta Walls, Thelma Mothershed, and Melba Pattillo faced death threats, physical attacks, and a governor who called in the National Guard to block their entry. President Eisenhower eventually sent in the 101st Airborne Division to es**rt them inside.
These were teenagers. With backpacks. Walking into history.
