The Department takes in, investigates, conciliates, mediates and prosecutes violations under the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), Disabled Persons Act, Unruh Civil Rights Act and Ralph Civil Rights Act. The CRD has five California offices in Elk Grove (Headquarters), Bakersfield, Fresno, Los Angeles, and Riverside.

We have three great job opportunities for legal or research professionals who want to help enforce California's civil rights laws!

Deputy Chief Counsel: Help lead our most complex litigation at both the state and federal level. This role also includes a special focus on training our legal team and fostering professional development.

Research Data Manager: Direct the department's statewide data collection programs, including overseeing collection, research, analysis, and dissemination.

Senior Research Data Specialist: Conduct research and develop evidence-based recommendations for combating hate.

California joins the nation in remembering the nearly 3,000 lives cruelly taken from us 25 years ago.

Faced with the unimaginable horror of the 9/11 terror attacks, first responders risked their own lives to save others, strangers came together to help one another, and brave service members put their lives on the line to defend our nation.

Today, we mourn the victims and their families, and honor the heroes — uniformed or not — who truly represented the best of us on that horrible day.

On Labor Day, we honor all workers and their hard-fought battles for the rights we have today. Through collective action, workers have advocated for better pay, safer working conditions, equal treatment, and a better quality of life for everyone.
