Today, we remember the courage, sacrifice and resolve of those who stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944.

Their actions changed the course of history and secured freedoms that generations continue to protect and uphold.

We honor the service members who faced impossible odds and recognize all who have answered the call to serve in defense of others.

Their legacy reminds us that freedom is never guaranteed; it is preserved through service, sacrifice and commitment.

🚨PORAC raised the alarm on AB 2411's training and accountability gaps.

On the floor, Assemblymember Tina McKinnor committed to implementing our amendments: any out-of-state officer deployed for the 2028 Games must complete California POST training and comply with and enforce all California laws. PORAC will ensure our elected leaders deliver on this promise.

Strong standards keep the public, the state, and our officers safe.

If the Terminator was real, a 45-day heads up would have helped all Americans. 😂

Skynet jokes aside… the issue is real.

During committee testimony on AB 2656, lawmakers and PORAC Vice President Ben Therriault made an important point: when artificial intelligence is introduced into the workplace, employees deserve to know.

AB 2656 simply requires notice before AI systems are used to monitor or evaluate public employees during their job performance.
Sometimes good public policy really is that simple.

PORAC is proud to have supported the Medal of Sacrifice Act, which has now been signed into law.

This legislation establishes a national honor recognizing law enforcement officers and first responders who make the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities. While no recognition can ever replace a loved one, this law helps ensure that the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of our fallen heroes are never forgotten.

PORAC thanks the lawmakers and stakeholders who worked to advance this important legislation and remains committed to honoring those who gave their lives in the line of duty and supporting the families they leave behind.

A win worth celebrating — and a point worth making. ✅

On the Assembly floor, Assemblymember McKinnor committed to PORAC's California-First Staffing requirement for AB 2411, confirming that local officers come first for the 2028 Games. Her reasoning for still needing out-of-state officers to backfill? Cities like Sacramento are already too short-staffed to spare enough officers to keep Californians safe during large events.

Funny thing about that staffing crisis — it didn't happen by accident. Session after session, Sacramento keeps advancing bills and rhetoric that make it harder to recruit and retain good officers, then acts surprised when there aren't enough to go around.
We'll take the win on AB 2411. But the real fight is fixing the crisis that made this conversation necessary in the first place. PORAC isn't going anywhere.
