Many thanks to the Transportation Branch of the US Property and Fiscal Office for California for transporting our M101A1 105mm Towed Howitzer from Joint Forces Training Base Los Alamitos to the Consolidated Headquarters Complex in Rancho Cordova.
The California Army National Guard used this workhorse of the Field Artillery from 1942 until the 40th Infantry Division was reformed as mechanized division in 1974.

Today, we received two circa 1905 3-inch Salute Guns at the California Military Department's headquarters in Rancho Cordova.
This set of guns is two of 20 pieces fabricated in 1905 by the Rock Island Arsenal. They were initially Civil War-era, muzzle-loading M-1861 3-inch Ordnance Rifles that were converted in 1905 to breech-loading guns capable of firing standard 3-inch blank cartridges. They were then mounted on pedestal mounts and later placed on either side of an installation's flagpole.
We don't know what Army post these were initially placed in; we suspect San Diego Barracks. These guns were in front of the Long Beach Seventh Street Armory from the mid-1930s until 2020.
Soon, these will be flanking the Consolidated Headquarters Complex's flagpoles.
Many thanks to the California Military Department's J-4 Joint Logistics Directorate for moving these artifacts for us.
