We are pleased to share that Canvas is back online for all Los Rios students. Los Rios will follow statewide recommendations for security measures for the resumption of Canvas activity.
While the immediate situation has been resolved, the State Chancellor’s Office has advised all users to be cautious and vigilant. Be wary of any new Canvas messages or emails soliciting money to access any element of Canvas or complete Canvas activities. They recommend avoiding accessing any links in messages from any user they are not familiar with. If you notice any suspicious behavior or communications, please report it at servicecentral.losrios.edu.
We recognize that students will have many questions about what to do now. Please look for information from your instructor and be patient as they work to communicate updates to their classes.
We will share more information as it becomes available.
Thank you all for patience as we all have navigated this global outage.

The Los Rios Community College District has shared that they are aware of a systemwide Canvas security issue impacting service, which appears to have caused an outage affecting students and faculty statewide.
At this time, the scope and specifics of the issue remain under investigation as Los Rios communicates with state and vendor contacts.

🚨 E-Bike & E-Moto Safety Reminder 🚨
As recently shared by one of our neighboring agencies, this important information applies here as well throughout our community and campuses.
The Los Rios Police Department would like to remind everyone that not all electric bikes are the same, and some vehicles commonly referred to as “e-bikes” may actually be classified as motor-driven vehicles or e-motorcycles under California law.
# # # Know the Difference:
🚲 Class 1 E-Bike
• Pedal-assist only
• Max speed: 20 MPH
🚲 Class 2 E-Bike
• Throttle equipped
• Max speed: 20 MPH
🚲 Class 3 E-Bike
• Pedal-assist
• Max speed: 28 MPH
• Riders must meet age and helmet requirements
🏍️ E-Motorcycles / Off-Road Style Bikes
Examples may include Sur-Ron, Talaria, Tutio, and similar models.
These are not the same as e-bikes and may require registration, insurance, licensing, safety equipment, and compliance with California Vehicle Code requirements before being operated on public roadways.
# # Important Reminders:
⚠️ Sidewalk riding may be prohibited in many areas
⚠️ Modified bikes can change legal classification
⚠️ Helmets may be required depending on class/age
⚠️ Unregistered or unlawfully operated vehicles may be subject to citations, towing, impound, and fines
Please ride responsibly, know the law, and help keep our campuses and surrounding communities safe.
If you have questions regarding bike safety on Los Rios properties, contact the Los Rios Police Department.

🚨 DISTRACTED DRIVING ENFORCEMENT 🚨
Your text, notification, or quick glance can wait. The safety of our students, staff, faculty, and visitors cannot.
As our campus community uses crosswalks and roadways every day, we remind all drivers to:
🛑 Make a full stop at all posted stop signs
🚶 Yield and wait for pedestrians to fully clear the crosswalk
📵 Put the phone down and stay focused behind the wheel
⚠️ Slow down and remain alert in parking lots and campus streets
LRPD will be actively enforcing traffic violations related to distracted driving, stop sign compliance, and pedestrian right-of-way to help keep our campuses safe.
Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Thank you for doing your part.
