Former foster youth in Sacramento County may be eligible for a new guaranteed income program providing $900 per month for up to two years.

The program is designed to support former foster youth as they transition into greater stability and independence.

If you exited foster care after age 16, or will be exiting foster care soon, you may be eligible. Scan the QR code or visit uwccr.org/fosteryouthgi to sign up for updates and be among the first to know when applications open soon.

Free flu vaccines will be available for everyone ages 6 months and older at locations throughout the county through November.

What does First 5 Sacramento do for children and families in our community? 💙

Executive Director Julie Gallelo shares how First 5 Sacramento supports families from pregnancy through the first five years of a child’s life. That includes helping fund more than 40 community programs, supporting parents and caregivers, strengthening families, and helping children get ready for kindergarten.

Julie also shares one resource she wants every Sacramento County parent to know about: Sac Family Connect, a free way to find local programs and services your family may be eligible for.

The first five years matter, and so does making sure families have the support they need along the way.

Tantrums are a normal part of the toddler years, but that doesn’t make them any easier to handle. 😅

A few things can help when big feelings take over:
💛 Stay calm and keep your response consistent
🍎 Remember that hunger or tiredness can make tantrums more likely
🧸 Try redirecting your child’s attention when you can
👉 Offer simple choices to give your child a little control
💬 Praise positive behavior when you see it

Young children are still learning how to manage strong emotions, and those skills take time and practice.
