Important message from Placer County Deputy Sheriff's Association, urging votes for Dave Bass for Placer County Judge 2026.

The Placer County Deputy Sheriffsโ€™ Association is proud to stand with our law enforcement partners at the Rocklin Police Officers' Association, Roseville Police Officers Association, Placer County Prosecutors Association , Placer County Law Enforcement Management Association, as well as countless elected officials throughout Placer County in support of Dave Bass for Placer County Judge 2026.

Our members work every day to protect the quality of life we value in Placer County. But law enforcement is only one part of the criminal justice system. Judges play a critical role in holding offenders accountable and taking appropriate action to keep our communities safe.

Our members are the professionals seeking search warrants, making arrests, and standing in Placer County courtrooms every single day. We see firsthand the impact judicial decisions have on victims, public safety, and the communities we serve. Having experience in criminal proceedings from within the process is a critical component that only one candidate has.

Dave Bass has the experience, judgment, and commitment needed to serve the people of Placer County. This race should not be decided simply by who currently holds the position or by endorsements from other judges alone. When public safety and community leaders are united in their support, it is clear which candidate best reflects the values of our community.

Join us in supporting Dave Bass for Placer County Judge 2026.

The judge sitting on the Superior Court bench in Placer County makes decisions that affect your community every single day. Sentencing. Rulings. The application of the law. That seat matters, and who fills it matters more than most voters realize.

That is why the Roseville Police Officers Association, the Placer County Deputy Sheriffs' Association, and the Rocklin Police Officers Association are standing together to endorse David Bass.

Law enforcement professionals know what it looks like when someone has earned a position. It's not about politics. It's about record, judgment, and character. David Bass has all three. He has the experience and professional record to serve this community with distinction, and he has demonstrated the integrity this role demands throughout his career.

Please vote Dave Bass for Placer County Judge 2026. Some of the reasons why:
- David Bass is law enforcement's choice for this position. The Placer County Deputy Sheriffs Association, the Roseville Police Officers Association, Rocklin Police Officers' Association. Placer County Prosecutors Association , Placer District Attorney Morgan Gire and Placer Sheriff Wayne Woo are among his supporters. Why? Because they interact with the court on a daily basis -- they've seen the appointed judge and compared his record to Dave's record. In addition to his part-time service as Mayor of Rocklin, Dave's full-time job is as a Deputy District Attorney for Sacramento County. His prior experience in private practice, as a Deputy State Attorney General, and a Deputy District Attorney in Placer give him the real world -- and courtroom -- experience we need for a judge.
- Dave is the business community's choice for this position. After interviewing the candidates, the political action committees of the Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce chose to support Dave.
- Dave is the choice of advocates for crime victims. Crime Victims United, California's leading advocacy group for crime victims, endorsed Dave and Placer families who've experienced horrific crimes and been thrust into the role of advocates for crime victims support Dave. A very special thank you to those families for standing up.
- Our local elected leaders who make public safety a priority support Dave, including Assemblyman Joe Patterson, Krista Bernasconi - Mayor, City of Roseville, Lincoln Mayor Richard Pearl, Placer County Supervisor Bonnie Gore, Placer County Supervisor Cindy Gustafson, Supervisor Anthony M. DeMattei, Shanti Landon - Placer County Supervisor, Placer County Suzanne Jones, and councilmembers from a number of cities, including Rocklin, Roseville and Lincoln.
- Other community groups are behind Dave as well, including the Asian Americans for Good Government PAC.
The appointed judge, Leon Dixson, makes much of his support from other judges, which is essentially the only group that sides with him. With all due respect to the other judges, they do not appear before appointed Judge Leon Dixson. They are busy in their own courtrooms and don't have time to watch what he's doing. The local prosecutors and police who interact with the court every day see what is happening in Judge Dixson's courtroom. They have cases before him, they have to apply for search warrants to him. The court employees see what's happening as well -- and they don't like what they see to the point that they have endorsed Dave Bass for Placer County Judge 2026.
Finally, it's jaw-dropping to see how California judges 'circle the wagons' when any one of them is challenged after appointment. The California Constitution specifically allows judges to be appointed temporarily when there is a vacancy, then to go to the voters in the next election, which is what is happening here. Individual judges from around the state who probably couldn't find Placer on a map gave him more than $50,000 after a request from the 'judicial strike force' that fights to protect any judge. And I was very surprised the California Judges Association has created a PAC to help judges fight challengers and to deter future election challenges. Judge Dixson got another $45,000 from the PAC. Why? Here are the qualifications to get money: Be a member of the association and give to the PAC at least 180 days before your election. That's it. The PAC, called JET-PAC, goes on to say on its public website: "Your length and level of contributions to JET-PAC significantly impact the financial support you may receive. To maximize your eligibility and protection: Support JET-PAC today if you are not yet a contributor. Increase your contribution rate to ensure you are best positioned for maximum financial assistance if your seat is contested in the future." In other words, the more you give, the more you get! There is nothing about judicial excellence or who is the best candidate. It's all about protecting incumbent judges, regardless of their record. Keep that in mind when you see appointed Judge Dixson's electronic billboard and mailers -- paid for by out-ot-town judges who oppose all challenges to judges. I think our state judiciary needs to do a little soul searching about how they've evolved to this point.

Big opening day for the Rocklin Community Farmers Market! Great crowd and vendors doing well. Occurs every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Quarry Park Adventures entrance on Pacific Street. Traffic was a little packed today .. we parked across Pacific and did a short walk using the crossings at the roundabout.

In 2025, we responded to 33 collisions involving bicycles and/or e-bikes in the City of Rocklin. Of those, 61% placed the cyclist at fault (a decrease from the previous yearsโ€™ 88%).

Common primary collision factors for both drivers and cyclists:
โ€ข Failure to stop
โ€ข Unsafe speed
โ€ข Failure to yield
โ€ข Unsafe turn
โ€ข Driving/riding the wrong way

Drivers: maintain safe passing distance, yield at intersections, and check your blind spots intently before merging or turning. Watch out for cyclists who may not be following proper riding rules of the road.

Cyclists: never assume a driver sees you (make eye contact), watch for turning vehicles, ride with the flow of traffic, wear high visibility gear, and don't ride reckless.

Judicial accountability is not โ€˜misinformationโ€™ โ€“ itโ€™s democracy 05/21/2026

Judges would like to have the final word on who gets to be a judge. Fortunately, you, the VOTERS, get to choose your judges. Great piece setting the record straight from Crime Victims United board board member Debbie Boyd. Join law enforcement leaders, victims rights advocates, police associations and court employees in supporting Dave Bass for Placer County Judge 2026.

Judicial accountability is not โ€˜misinformationโ€™ โ€“ itโ€™s democracy The sentiment surrounding the Placer County judicial race reveals something much larger than a disagreement over one election - a growing discomfort with the idea that local communities have input in their judiciary.
