Proudly representing California’s 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives

I just voted for a bipartisan discharge petition to support Ukraine's defense and impose tougher sanctions on Vladimir Putin's war machine.

More than four years after Putin launched his illegal invasion, Ukraine continues to defy the odds. The Ukrainian people have fought with extraordinary courage, resilience, and determination.

This vote is a statement of confidence in Ukraine's future. I will continue standing with the Ukrainian people as they fight for their freedom, sovereignty, and democracy.

Today is the 37th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre.

Last year on its anniversary, I introduced a bipartisan resolution with Congresswoman Young Kim honoring the countless individuals who risked—and in many cases lost—their lives in the pursuit of democracy and basic human rights.

As the PRC continues its campaign of censorship, repression, and intimidation, we must ensure the truth of June 4, 1989 is never forgotten or erased.

Our resolution honors the victims, condemns ongoing human rights abuses, and reaffirms America’s commitment to freedom, democracy, and human dignity.

I just voted for the fourth time to end President Trump’s illegal war with Iran.

This time, enough Republicans joined us to successfully pass this resolution and reassert Congress’ constitutional authority over war powers. I commend my Republican colleagues who voted to do the right thing and put the Constitution first.

The American people do not want another costly and prolonged conflict in the Middle East. They want us focused on lowering costs and addressing the many challenges we face here at home.

We must bring this war to an end.

Helping Sacramento County residents cut through red tape and get answers from federal agencies is one of my most important jobs in Congress.

Whether it's resolving delayed tax refunds, helping seniors navigate Social Security and Medicare, or assisting veterans with their benefits, my dedicated casework team works every day to deliver results for Sacramento County residents.

I'm proud to share that we have now assisted more than 37,000 constituents since I took office in 2013.

If you need help with a federal agency, visit bera.house.gov/get-help to learn more about how my office may be able to assist.

Scoop: Trump plans to drop "weaponization" fund 06/01/2026

It is outrageous that Trump even attempted to fleece the American taxpayer out of $1.776 billion to reward his political allies and the rioters who attacked our Capitol on January 6th.

While Trump was forced to walk this back, the pattern of corruption persists.

The president is abusing his office to enrich himself and his family while the American people struggle with higher health care, utility, housing, gas, and grocery costs.

Scoop: Trump plans to drop "weaponization" fund Trump's proposal has drawn bipartisan pushback in the GOP-led House and Senate.

Sacramento takes swing at MLB expansion, fans say, ‘We’re ready’ 05/29/2026

The Sacramento region has already proved it can support Major League Baseball.

Our fast-growing region continues to attract new residents, businesses, and investment. We have passionate sports fans and a quality of life that continues to draw families from all over.

I’ve never been more optimistic about the future of our region, and I believe Sacramento has all the ingredients to be a permanent, successful home for Major League Baseball.

I look forward to supporting this bid.

This week, I visited Folsom Dam to receive an update on ongoing modernization efforts that will strengthen flood protection, improve flexibility on water releases, and increase water storage capacity during droughts.

Folsom Dam is one of the most important pieces of infrastructure in the Sacramento region, helping protect families, businesses, and communities across our area. I’m proud to have helped secure federal funding for this transformational project and will continue fighting in Congress to bring federal resources home to our region.

Thank you to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Bureau of Reclamation, the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency, and everyone involved for the critical work you do every day to help keep our communities safe.

The Sacramento County Office of Emergency Services plays a critical role coordinating responses to wildfires, floods, and other disasters that impact our region.

I am proud to have secured $990,000 in federal funding to replace outdated technology systems at the Emergency Operations Center, strengthen cybersecurity protections, and modernize the communication tools first responders rely on during emergencies.

These upgrades will help improve regional disaster response capabilities for the more than 1.6 million Sacramento County residents who rely on this center in times of crisis.
