People delay care for real reasons. No insurance, mounting costs, pain that seemed manageable, hope it would resolve on its own.
Insurance knows this. They will still use the gap if given the chance. Get legal advice before you say anything to the adjuster about why you waited.

Insurance will use your medical bills as a ceiling for what they offer. That is not how compensation is calculated.
The full value of your case includes what you paid, what you will pay, what you lost, and what you can no longer do. That is exactly what we fight for: a settlement that reflects everything the accident took from you.

People think patience in an injury case is passive. In reality, it is strategic.
Every month your attorney spends building your case is a month insurance spends knowing they cannot lowball their way out of it. The cases that take the longest are often the ones where the most was at stake.
If you are wondering whether your case is moving the way it should, that question deserves a direct answer.

Insurance locks in your words early because most people do not yet know the full extent of their injuries when they say them.
If you have already spoken to an adjuster, do not try to walk it back on your own. Get legal advice before your next conversation with them. What happens after that statement matters more than the statement itself.

The most common reason people do not call an attorney is the assumption that they cannot afford one.
That assumption is exactly what insurance counts on. A contingency fee means the firm only gets paid when you do, and that aligns their interest entirely with yours. There is no financial risk in making the call. βοΈ

Settling your case is not the finish line. What happens to that money after settlement depends entirely on what liens were identified, negotiated, and resolved before you signed.
Most people find out about subrogation after the fact. At that point the leverage is gone. If your case is approaching settlement and nobody has talked to you about liens, that is the conversation to have right now.

This gap catches a lot of people off guard. Bills are piling up, treatment is ongoing, and the other side's insurer is nowhere to be found on those costs until a settlement is reached.
Understanding how medical costs are handled before and after settlement is part of what an attorney manages from day one. Do not wait until the bills become a crisis.
