I’m considering on adding 30 guinea hens to my backyard flock. Now that we are a hen only city, we’ll start with 30 and see if we need to keep adding. There will be plenty of delicious eggs to go around.

PEOPLE WHO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT CHICKENS SHOULD NOT BE MAKING LAWS THAT EFFECT THE MASS MAJORITY OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE THEM!
Ok now that I have your attention. It has come to my attention that towns/ city’s councils boards are making laws and banning roosters. Now it they pass because the majority of people want it passed is one thing but some boards are just passing them. 🤯🤯 not ok.
I choose on my farm not to keep roosters for many reasons. But I completely understand why others want them.
They need them to be self sufficient in breeding and raising their own food!! Their own chicks for replacement to their birds.
I do not know of anyone who is going to keep an aggressive rooster. They are not any louder than a hen. I actually find them to be quieter.
It’s bull s**t our elected officials are banning thing like this so people can not raise their own food.
People if you do not like being in Vermont where we live a different type of life then most then please do not move here. We hunt, fish, we have farm animals and we enjoy those things more then most like people.
Here in VT we have always lived with the moto of live and let live. You do you and I’ll do me. I do not give a s**t what others do just be a good person. And being able to supply food for your family in any way falls under that.
So if your town has made laws against you being able to grow your own food then you need to stand up and fix that.
As of now there’s a few city’s that have passed such laws Burlington south Burlington. And st Albans is in the process.
Nothing like taking control over people’s ability to provide food for themselves. It’s just not right.
Like everything else please have adult conversations!!
