Maramec Spring Park Maramec Spring Park is privately-operated by The James Foundation in St. James, MO.

🦋It’s Butterfly Time 🦋
The park staff participated in our annual monarch tagging this week. Each monarch butterfly is fitted with a small sticker that includes an individual code. Think of something similar to an ear tag for livestock. The sticker remains on the butterfly through the rest of their life, hopefully making it all the way to Mexico. During the winter, observers in Mexico will collect the codes. Both taggers and observers upload the data to Monarch Watch. Park staff will be able to see if any of our tagged butterflies were spotted in their winter habitat!
