📢TAC is excited to celebrate the start of National County Government Month.
Throughout April, we recognize the essential role counties play in serving Texans and strengthening our communities.
County officials, visit texascountiesdeliver.org for resources to support your outreach. The site includes a social media toolkit, sample posts, and graphics that you can use to highlight the work happening in your county.
We will also be sharing content all month long and invite you to follow along and participate in celebrating how Texas counties deliver.

TOM GREEN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE WARNS RESIDENTS OF ONGOING PHONE SCAM
The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam that has been reported multiple times in recent days.
Several individuals have contacted the Sheriff’s Office after receiving calls from someone claiming to be a deputy with the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office. During these calls, the scammer tells the person they have an outstanding warrant for their arrest and instructs them to visit specific retail stores to pay a fine.
Sheriff's officials remind the public that the number appearing on the caller ID may not actually belong to the scammer, as these types of calls are often “spoofed” to appear legitimate.
The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public:
• Law enforcement officers will never call and demand payment to avoid arrest.
• Citizens will never be instructed to pay fines at a retail store.
• Requests for payment through gift cards, wire transfers, or similar methods are clear indicators of a scam.
• Scammers use names of actual law enforcement officers while perpetrating these scams.
Residents who receive this type of call are encouraged to hang up immediately and not provide any personal or financial information.
Sheriff Hanna stated, “If you receive a call about a warrant, jury duty, something with your grandchildren, utilities being shut off, cryptocurrency, or anything involving gift cards – I would be very skeptical about the legitimacy of the call.”
The Sheriff’s Office encourages residents to share this warning with friends and family, particularly elderly citizens who are often targeted by scammers.

There aren’t enough words to explain the gratitude I am feeling today.
To my family and friends you carried me through every step of this campaign. From beginning to end, you stood beside me on the long days and the hard ones, reminding me why I started and encouraging me to keep going. Your prayers, phone calls, texts, and constant support meant more than you will ever know.
To this incredible community thank you for opening your doors, placing signs in your yards and businesses, showing up to forums, and most importantly, showing up to vote. Your belief in me is something I will never take for granted.
Lastly, I want to thank Christina for the opportunity to serve as her chief, I am grateful for the experience, and trust she placed in me during my time in this role. I wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors.
I am deeply thankful, incredibly honored, and ready to serve with integrity, hard work, and a full heart. Thank you, Tom Green County — I look forward to continuing to serve you!
