🚨FOR THIS SATURDAY July 4🚨
“Hello everyone. The Young Ambitious Activists will be holding an event this Saturday at the San Antonio Police Officers Association (the union) to protest the unethical arbitration process, chapters 143 and 174 of the collective bargaining agreement, and the general lack of accountability for SAPD. San Antonio Police Department leads the nation in the number of fired police officers who are able to get their job back following arbitration, with over two-thirds of all fired officers being reinstated. An arbitrator is able to completely overrule any decision made by the police chief and the review board. This process allows for officers to commit awful crimes against our community with out any accountability. 67.5% (average of the last ten years) of officers fired are able to be reinstated with no consequences. This has to stop.
We would love to hear your stories of your experiences with SAPOA or SAPD in the comments or through private message. If anyone would be interested in speaking at our event please contact us. We exist to amplify the voices of our community and want to offer this event to those who have felt silenced by the SAPOA or SAPD. You can contact Brittany, who will be running operations for the event, at [email protected] or through Facebook messenger if you have any questions or concerns. United we stand.”
