Well, sad to say that I lost by 142 votes.
It was a very close race and a campaign that took place during a long 8 month / pandemic year. I quit going door-to-door in March, but I gave what I could in these unprecedented times and I’m so proud that Craig Sanders won by a landslide.
Craig will do a great job representing our city. I am proud to have completed this race with him.
Thanks so much for all of your support and it means the world that 2,168 residents gave me their vote, put their faith in me and hoped I’d win.
I’m sorry that I won’t be your representative, but I hope to stay more involved and active from here on out to help make our city better.
THANKS TO ALL OF YOU! ✌🏻♥️💫

I've learned some information this week about the ongoing issues with the current government in the City of Helotes.
Did you know that retirees of the City of Helotes have not been given a cost of living increase in wages to their TMRS in 7 years?

In 7 years, the current Council has not approved for the Texas Municipal Retirement System to adjust wages to help our retired former employees that gave many years of their life to serve the City of Helotes.

If our city council doesn't care about those that spent much longer working in this city than the time they have served as elected officials, chances are that they probably do not care about increasing wages to those that are working for us NOW or for those that will need to retire in the future.

Add that to the huge increases in cost of living across the board, C-6 Trash's recent increases approved of and other expenses that incur for senior citizens and I believe we need to strongly consider electing a council that understands what it's like to live in a lower income bracket.
Vote for Brandi Morgan and Craig Sanders, citizens of Helotes that care about former employees, current employees and the rest of our community.

PS There are ways to be fiscally conservative and still make sure people are taken care of! ✌🏻

Met a few families this evening in Bricewood, hung out with Helotes’ future council men, Craig P Sanders and had some killer Cajun food. ✌🏻

Helotes Highlights Info. (150ish words)

1. Provide a short bio, including how long you have lived in Helotes and where you are from.

I have been in Helotes for 6 years.
I grew up in Castroville, spent 10 years in Bandera and came to Helotes in 2013.

2. Why are you seeking election and why should Helotes residents vote for you?

Helotes residents should vote for me because I am not a politician.
I am a mom, a wife, a teacher, a photographer, a friend and a person who loves helping the community I live in.

I will make choices for our city from the lens of someone who is like-minded to the families that live here.

3. What do you think are the most important issues facing Helotes and how will you address them?

I believe that our city is growing rapidly and the current elected officials have seemed to not put a lot of thought into the direction our city should go.

We need more consideration towards and support of small businesses, we need more thoughtfulness towards what additional business come in and we need to make our city more family/kid -friendly.

4. What are the duties and responsibilities of a City Council member?

The city council member should listen to the concerns of constituents, make sound judgement calls on city matters, vote for what’s best for the whole of Helotes and act as the voting body, balancing the powers of the city.
