DYK: In 2019, CPS Energy’s electrical distribution system experienced at least 46 service outages directly attributed to Mylar balloons; negatively impacting over 9,103 customers
This is what can happen when a mylar balloon drifts into power lines. 🎈⚠️

Mylar balloons are made of conductive foil that can cause a short circuit when they come into contact with power lines. This can result in dangerous hazards, like power outages, downed power lines, and potential electrical fires.

‼️ WHAT TO DO: Practice by always securing mylar balloons with weights, never releasing them outdoors, and always disposing of them properly. If you see a mylar balloon tangled in power lines, DON'T attempt to retrieve it yourself. Please report it to us by calling 210-353-HELP (4357).

Thank you to our Arc & Spark team for capturing this demonstration for us! 🙌
