Once again, Adopt A Needy Family was honored to sponsor a Christmas party for the SAISD Special Education Department. For many of these children, this is not just a Christmas party — it is the only Christmas celebration they will experience this season.

We are quickly approaching “the most wonderful time of the year,” but for many families in our community, the holidays bring stress and uncertainty instead of joy.

At this moment, 16 families are still waiting for a sponsor. These are small and medium-sized families with children of all ages who have been referred by social workers and are hoping for a little help to make Christmas possible. For them, a sponsor means gifts under the tree, essentials they truly need, and the reassurance that they have not been forgotten.

Every year, we have a few families who are harder to match with sponsors simply because they have teenagers. These families need just as much love, support, and holiday hope as anyone else — sometimes even more.

Time to ask for help......we have been approached by a family that is struggling and is asking for a Thanksgiving meal for her and her children.

Mom has stomach & colon cancer and is constantly being admitted into the hospital. She lives with her adult daughter and toddler grandson. She also has a teenage son who attends high school.

She has one other son in elementary who seems to carry the burdens of his mother, not only does he have a learning disability, behavior issues but he is emotionally disturbed and does not want to leave his mother's sight.

Moms dog who was her Medical Alert/Therapy Dog [ best friend ] passed away 1 week ago.

Is there anyone willing to help this family with a simple Thanksgiving Meal. If not a meal, would you make a contribution so we can go and buy everything for them? Let me know.
