BCFS Health and Human Services-San Antonio provides current and former foster youth with workforce services, dropout prevention activities, self-esteem and leadership activities, counseling, and other transition services that support healthy development.
Youth receiving services are:
- Between the ages of 16 and 25
- Currently in foster care
- Aging out of foster care
- Formerly in foster care but still need assistance
- Foster youth on probation or parole
- Foster youth released from juvenile correctional facilities
Services provided include:
- One-on-one assistance
- Assessments to identify services that foster youth need
- Job searches and job referrals
- Career assessments
- Mentoring
- Identification of growth occupations in the local labor market
- Job skills training and job placement
- Preparation for Adult Living (PAL)
- Kids Averted from Placement Services (KAPS)
- University of Texas at San Antonio Housing and Education Assistance
- Education and Training Voucher (ETV) Scholarship Program
- The PREP Project
