Canyon Ridge Elementary School - North East ISD

🩺✂️ 1st Grade Contraction Surgery was a HUGE success! Our little doctors suited up in scrubs, masks, and gloves as they performed “surgery” on words to create contractions throughout the day!

Students had so much fun “operating” on words like do not to make don’t while strengthening their reading and grammar skills in a hands-on, engaging way. 🩹📚

We loved seeing our future surgeons hard at work learning, collaborating, and having fun in 1st grade!

During a Special Board Meeting on Monday, May 18, the North East ISD Board of Trustees named Interim Superintendent Anthony Jarrett as the Lone Finalist for Superintendent.

“He has maintained a strong commitment to student success, academic excellence and community partnerships,” said Board President David Beyer. “We are confident that his leadership, experience, and vision will help guide our District forward, toward continued growth and opportunity for all staff students and families.”

Jarrett brings more than 25 years of experience in public education including six years with NEISD. He previously served as the District’s Chief Instructional Officer before being named Interim Superintendent in December of last year. Prior to joining North East ISD in 2019, Jarrett served as a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent in Northside ISD.

Following the announcement, Jarrett shared his gratitude to the board and enthusiasm for this next chapter.

“Sitting in this role is a humbling experience,” said Jarrett. “The mindset of service first and self second is something that I fundamentally believe in. I think working alongside you guys, I know our District will continue to grow, get better and be one of the best districts in the country.”

Per state mandate, NEISD trustees must wait at least 21 days before officially voting to appoint Jarrett as our District’s newest Superintendent.

Third grade had the BEST time exploring the Botanical Gardens today! 🌿🌸 Our students learned all about different ecosystems and plant adaptations, and even created their very own terrariums to take home. We love hands on learning and making memories with friends!

A huge thank you to our amazing parent chaperones for helping make this field trip extra special for our coyotes! 💜

Two of our Pre-K classes were able to have their Spring Field Trip to Morgan’s Wonderland last week and had an incredible time! They were able to explore sensory rooms, swing, climb, and go on rides. Thank you for everyone who made this possible and all the parents who joined! 

Today, our Kindness Club spread a little extra joy across campus by handing out inspirational cards to students and staff. These students worked all year creating enough cards for everyone and they proved today that small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

Congratulations to our April Super Star Students, Elissa and Varun from PreK!

These two students come to school ready to learn, work hard, and show kindness to others each day. Their positive attitudes and excitement for learning make them wonderful role models in the classroom. We are so proud of the growth they continue to show and love seeing them shine at Canyon Ridge!

There were plenty of smiles when PAWS visited our Kindergarten and 1st Grade students this week 🐾

We have been very busy in 2nd grade this past week! We have been exploring and entertaining! Last week we visited Phil Hardberger Park. We learned lots about a park in our area, and spent the day out hiking in our beautiful city. Last night, under the direction of the very talented Mrs. Valencia, we sang our hearts out in our musical Swamped!

On International 5p- Syndrome (Cri du Chat) Awareness Day, we are honoring one of our tiniest but mightiest students, Elissa! She is sweet, sassy, and determined - all rolled into one incredible little lady.
