Have not posted much in a while to my Goshen City council page, but tonight is without a doubt reason to post.

Was honored to be present for the “Change of Command Ceremony” where the official transition of leadership in the Goshen Fire Department from retiring Chief Danny Sink to incoming Chief Anthony Powell.

Was a very emotional evening ending with the “Final Dispatch” of Chief Sink signing off for the final time and Chief Powell assuming leadership.

Thank you Chief Sink for your dedication to the safety of Goshen over the past 43 years of unwavering service.

Congratulations to Chief Powell on your new leadership of Goshen Fire Department. “

In honor of GoRuck’s week long celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the Historic D-Day Landings at Normandy….

Beginning on June 1st and running through June 8th, I completed 3 separate Normandy-inspired Rucks totaling 25.5 miles; along with 4 workouts honoring the 80th Anniversary, Operation Overload, the 82nd Airborne, and the 101st Airborne.

Thank you to the courageous soldiers of the greatest generation who liberated France and Europe.

Saturday June 8th, in honor of GoRuck’s week long celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the Historic D-Day Landings at Normandy….

I performed the WOD “101st Airborne”

This one had special meaning for me as Grandpa Joseph Earl (Pete) Weddell was a member of the 101st Airborne.

Saturday June 1st, in honor of GoRuck’s week long celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the Historic D-Day Landings at Normandy….

I rucked 10 miles representing the Juno Beach Ruck:

Juno Beach is between the British beaches Gold and Sword. The Canadian Army led the way with assistance from the British, French, Norwegian, and other Allied forces. From the beach, the 3rd Canadian Divisions' objectives were to take the Carpiquet Airfield and reach the Caen-Bayeux railway. That day, the Canadian Army ranged farther inland than any other landing force on D-Day.

GoRuck Honors the 80th Anniversary of the Historic D-Day Landings at Normandy.

To align with D-Day this week-long anti-virtual
challenge will take place June 1-8.

To successfully finish this challenge you need to complete all 4 workouts and pick 2 of the
Normandy-inspired rucks.

As you embark on your rucking journey, select your routes, delve into their history, and dedicate your efforts to the courageous soldiers of America’s Greatest Generation who liberated France and Europe. These heroes rucked, often carrying 80 pounds or more, as they pursued their missions.

On this Memorial Day 2024, we honor and mourn the U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

We can never thank the Men and Women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our never ending freedom.

We began the day honoring the memory of Navy Lt. Michael Murphy who died in Afghanistan on June 28, 2005 by completing the annual Memorial Day Murph workout.

1 mile Ruck
100 pull-ups
200 push-ups
300 squats
1 mile Ruck

All while wearing a 20lbs Ruck.

First year that Lleyton agreed to do the WOD with me. Since he started CrossFit 3 months ago he was willing.

Suzie came over and decided to join in. No convincing Robin Weddell but at least she cheered us on.

Lleyton modified slick: 0:53:07

Suzie modified subbed bent rows for the pull-ups: 1::07:25

Brett Weddell Rx with 20 # weighted ruck: 1:06:40. Shaved over 10 minutes off of last years time.

These are the yard signs for the contested candidates I am supporting in the May 7th Primary.

My HOA requested that any signs be placed in our flower beds instead of the yard to prevent any obstructions for the lawn service. I happily and respectfully complied.

As I walked over 5 miles this morning helping drop literature for my preferred candidates, I had to constantly laugh as we drove from one area to another to the next. Every time we passed an abandoned commercial property that was for sale, the opponents signs were “proudly” placed within the overgrown grass.

Voters, please recognize the desperation a candidate must feel when they can’t find enough actual property owners who want their signs in their yards. Don’t be fooled.

Vote for proven leadership that respects the past, present and future generations. Goshen City and Elkhart County have come too far in the past decade to only slide backwards.
