Whether or not to regulate AI should NOT be up for debate. “Winning” the AI race with China doesn’t just mean achieving AGI first – that doesn’t matter if no one trusts these AI systems enough to adopt them or if they hurt people who use them.

Our goal should be to have the right guardrails that make AI systems transparent, safe, and accountable. Trust and safety are our competitive advantage. Congress must act to make that a reality.
