Watch the splashdown with us! NASA’s Artemis II mission is splashing down in the Pacific Ocean at about 5:07 p.m. PDT on Friday, April 10. We'll be livestreaming the splashdown starting at 4pm in the Community Room on the big screen. 🚨📰 UPDATE: USS John P. Murtha to support NASA's Artemis II mission

SAN DIEGO – Amphibious transport dock ship USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26) is slated to serve as the recovery ship for the Orion spacecraft and its crew upon their return from the historic Artemis II mission.

The Artemis II mission is the first crewed flight of NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion spacecraft, sending four astronauts on an approximately 10-day journey that will take them beyond the Moon. This mission will mark humanity's first crewed voyage to the vicinity of the Moon in over 50 years.

Upon completion of their mission, the Orion capsule will splash down in the Pacific Ocean, where John P. Murtha and its crew will be prepared to recover the astronauts and the spacecraft.

TOMORROW at 3:30-4:30 p.m.! Get creative! Have fun! At each CREATIVE KIDS session Ms. Maureen will feature a different fun program such as coloring, painting, making paper airplanes, playing games, or painting a self-portrait.

Creativity, problem solving, and teamwork are some of the skills that games and crafts can teach children. All supplies will be provided. Recommended for elementary and middle-school aged kids. CREATIVE KIDS meets the second Wednesday of each month from 3:30-4:30pm.
