It’s good to be back in San Diego! SAVANNAH GOLD sailors have enjoyed their much deserved post deployment leave. We look forward to integrating with our SAVANNAH BLUE counterparts to make one team for LCS 28! All further updates will be on our new page USS Savannah LCS 28.

The Independence-variant littoral combat ships USS Cincinnati (LCS 20) and USS Savannah (LCS 28) conduct a passing exercise (PASSEX) while operating in the Western Pacific Ocean.🚢🌅

This week, we conducted Search and Rescue (SAR) training during routine underway operations in the South China Sea. SAVANNAH’s aviation and surface SAR swimmers worked with our small boat and aircraft crews to practice the skills needed to save lives at sea!

It’s been a busy few weeks! Here some highlights:

1️⃣ Savannah Gold successfully completed Exchange of Command onboard with our sister crew USS Savannah LCS 28 Blue abroad.

2️⃣/3️⃣ Congratulations to our newly promoted Engineman Third Class Petty Officer Bolanos!

4️⃣ Logistics Specialist Chief Yakabu was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his efforts in coordinating the logistics for Savannah Gold’s maiden deployment.

5️⃣ Congratulation to Electronics Technician Petty Officer 2nd Class Pedone for qualifying Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist! ET2 (SW) Pedone is the first Savannah Gold Sailor to ever earn this qualification but he won’t be the last!

Command Master Chief John M. Shubert was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for serving his time as Command Master Chief onboard USS CHARLESTON (LCS 18) and USS SAVANNAH (LCS 28) GOLD from September 2022 to August 2024.

Information System Technician Third Class Annie L. Karber was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for quick decisive actions in preventing a devastating situation.

Engineman First Class Ashleigh R. Perriatt was awarded the Letter of Commendation for serving her time onboard USS SAVANNAH (LCS 28) GOLD from November 2021 to August 2024.
