Busy School Board day!

Started the morning with our School Liaison Committee, followed by a great visit to J. Blaine Blayton Elementary School both with Ms. Donnor.

Then I had the opportunity to observe Warhill High School’s 4th Annual Law & Debate Mock Trial, presided over by Judge Saunders of the 7th Judicial District Court of Virginia. The students did an outstanding job and it was incredible to see their hard work in action.

Happy Friday!

It was an honor to kick off our inaugural Leadership Connections Day, welcoming students and community partners for a day of hands-on learning in local government and civic leadership.

I had the chance to share that my journey in public service began with the city of Chesapeake’s Mayor’s Youth Day—making this a truly full circle moment. Local government is a team sport, and I’m so grateful to everyone who stepped up to give our students this opportunity.

Nothing beats a day at the Exceptional Games!

So many smiles, cheers, laughter, dancing, and friendly competition at Jamestown High School. Always one of the best days of the year with Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools!

Grateful for the students, staff, and volunteers who make this event so special!

Spent the day with the Lafayette Rams at Laurel Lane Elementary School. What a great experience!

As part of their annual visit, Lafayette High School’s International Club read with students and built meaningful connections across classrooms.

A highlight was the “Lunch & Panel,” where Laurel Lane students asked questions about being a language learner and life in high school—powerful conversations that build understanding and confidence.

Later, Ms. Chen and I visited Lafayette High School to check in with Mr. Townsend and see how our Herd is doing.

Tree-mendous morning!🌳

Picked up my 10 native seedlings to help re-tree our community. Big thanks to James City County Sustainability and General Services for this great program supporting native plants and a healthier environment.

New goal: find homes for these trees and do not let 10 trees die 🌱😅

Had a great time this past weekend with the Sorensen Institute for Civic Leadership in Williamsburg!

I enjoyed serving on the local government panel for the 2026 Political Leaders Program cohort.
It was wonderful to connect with such a thoughtful and engaged group of leaders.

Excited to see all they will accomplish for the Commonwealth!

Great back-to-back school visits with Ms. Chen!

We started at Stonehouse Elementary School, where we caught the always exciting Field Day and saw students engaged in their regular classroom instruction. Then we headed to Norge Elementary School, where 4th and 5th grade students explored an airplane activity, applying vocabulary and math concepts in a hands-on way.

Always inspiring to see our students learning, growing, and having fun!

I was lucky enough to spend St. Patrick’s Day reading to 1st and 2nd graders at J. Blaine Blayton Elementary School with my fellow school board members as part of Read Across America Month! 📚🍀
It’s always a joy to see our students’ excitement for stories, learning and leprechaun traps.
Thank you to the amazing teachers and staff for creating such a welcoming environment!
Moments like these remind me why I’m so proud to serve our schools.
