The Navy will be an advocate to help you when housing maintenance, health or safety issues arise. On this 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, Veterans Village of San Diego pauses to remember a day that forever changed our nation, and the lives of so many around the world. Today, we honor all of the lives lost and hold their families and loved ones in our hearts. We remember those who faced unimaginable loss, the survivors who continue to carry the memories of that day, and the countless lives forever changed by the events of this day.

We also offer our deepest gratitude to the first responders, firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency medical personnel, military members, volunteers, and everyday Americans who became heroes that day. Their courage, compassion and selflessness represented the very best of our nation.

We remember the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice, and those who worked tirelessly in the days, weeks and years that followed. We remember the families who have carried their loss for 25 years. We honor their lives. We thank those who served. And we will never forget.❤🤍💙

Twenty-five years ago, our nation changed forever. On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 people lost their lives in acts of terrorism that brought unimaginable grief to families and communities across our country.

The events of that day would shape the decades that followed, leading our nation into conflicts that defined a generation of military service and sacrifice. For so many Sailors and Navy families, the effects of 9/11 became part of their own stories, through deployments, long separations, missed milestones and loss.

A quarter-century later, some remember exactly where they were that morning. Others know September 11 only as history. The passage of time makes the responsibility to remember those who never made it home no less important.

We will never forget.
