The ⁠San Diego County Latino Association has partnered with Feeding San Diego for a Virtual Food Drive to help feed San Diegans that will begin today and go to 11/21/2025. What is a virtual food drive? Instead of your traditional food drive where you bring in food, the focus will be on monetary donations. Because of the purchasing power that Feeding San Diego has, the breakdown is that every dollar received will amount to two meals!

SDCLA has a goal to reach $2500 for 5000 meals. Because of the recent news of pausing of CalFresh benefits for November, SDCLA wants to help the community as much as we can. That is why SDCLA will be matching dollar for dollar of contributions received up to $1000.

Easiest way to donate is by using the “QR Code” provided and selecting the item you would like to purchase for donation.

Feeding San Diego’s mission is to connect every person facing hunger with nutritious meals by maximizing food rescue. Last year, Feeding San Diego provided 31 million meals to people facing hunger in San Diego County through a decentralized food rescue model and our distribution network, including more than 350 local charities, schools, colleges, faith communities, healthcare providers, and meal sites across the county. According to Feeding America’s 2025 report, food insecurity is at its highest rate in eight years, with nearly 400,000 San Diegans, 12% of the population, facing food insecurity. It is only through essential partnerships that we can fight hunger and serve as a source of stability for our neighbors

Hello everyone! SDCLA is excited to announce that we will be hosting the Mexican Heritage Celebration game again with the San Diego Padres! Come on out and enjoy a Friday night game on June 21, 2024 at 6:40pm. Last year we sold out and expect to have another sell out. Tickets will include seats in Section 229 and a commemorative hat. Price is $43 plus fees. We can’t wait to see you all there!

It is with deep sorrow that we learn about the passing of Peter Seidler. Numerous memories circulating highlight his remarkable generosity and the exceptional individual he was. Beyond his outstanding ownership of the Padres, he has contributed significantly to the San Diego community. The San Diego County Latino Association expresses gratitude to Peter Seidler and the Padres Organization for their generous support of our organization. During this challenging period, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Seidler family, the organization, and the San Diego community. In honor of Mr. Seidler, we will be commemorating his legacy through our upcoming scholarship distribution, with further details to be provided soon.

It is incredible to be with past and present leadership for our 40 year anniversary. A big thank you to the past and present members for your contribution to the organization taking it to where it is today. Thank you and the rest of the Board of Supervisors for the proclamation and for honoring our momentous occasion. Here is to another 40 years and beyond!
