⚠️119 MPH is Not Worth the Risk ‼️

Excessive speed reduces reaction time, increases stopping distance, and makes crashes far more severe for everyone on the road. No destination is worth risking lives.

The California Highway Patrol reminds all drivers to slow down, stay focused behind the wheel, and make safe decisions every time you drive. Obey posted speed limits, leave plenty of space between vehicles, and remember that safety on the roadway is everyone’s responsibility.

Drive responsibly. Arrive safely.

May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. 🏍️

The California Highway Patrol reminds everyone that motorcyclists are among the most vulnerable on our roadways. A moment of distraction, unsafe speed, or failure to look twice can have devastating consequences.

Drivers:
• Check mirrors and blind spots before changing lanes
• Give motorcycles a full lane and safe following distance
• Stay alert and avoid distracted driving

Riders:
• Wear approved safety gear and a DOT-compliant helmet
• Ride at safe speeds and stay visible
• Never ride impaired or fatigued

Every rider deserves to make it home safely. Let’s all do our part to share the road responsibly and stay focused behind the wheel.

The California Highway Patrol reminds the public: safe roadway navigation requires patience, attention, and responsible driving decisions every time you get behind the wheel. Curves, turns, and changing roadway conditions can quickly become dangerous when drivers are traveling too fast or are not fully focused on the road ahead.

Always reduce your speed when approaching turns, maintain control of your vehicle, and drive according to current roadway and traffic conditions. Staying alert, avoiding distractions, and giving yourself enough time to react can help prevent serious crashes.

Drive responsibly and help keep our roadways safe for everyone.

🚨 Every Mile Per Hour Matters🚨

Speed continues to be a leading factor in serious and fatal crashes across our roadways. Even a slight increase in speed reduces a driver’s ability to react to changing conditions and significantly increases the force of impact in a collision.

The crash depicted here is a clear reminder that these incidents are often preventable. Safe driving requires constant attention, sound judgment, and a commitment to operating at a safe and legal speed for current conditions.

We urge all motorists to slow down, remain alert, and allow adequate time and distance to respond to the unexpected. Responsible driving saves lives and helps keep our communities safe.

Traveling through California? Know before you go. 🌄

A recent traffic stop for speeding resulted in the discovery of a firearm that was not compliant with California law, including being unregistered and in violation of magazine capacity restrictions.

Laws can vary significantly from state to state, particularly regarding fi****ms. In California, regulations on firearm registration, configuration, transport, and magazine capacity are strictly enforced. Additionally, while operating a vehicle on California roadways, all California Vehicle Code laws apply, regardless of a driver’s state of residence.

Taking time to understand applicable laws prior to traveling can help prevent unsafe situations and serious legal consequences.

If you have any questions, please contact your local CHP office. Drive safely, remain informed, and plan ahead.
