Officials were working on fire mitigation efforts before the 2025 Los Angeles fires. The permits took too long, and it had devastating consequences. My Fix Our Forests Act would have granted those permits in 6 months, not 4 years. Learn more about it at the link in my bio.

Today marks 3 years since the horrific Hamas attack on thousands of innocent Israelis. Since then, the rise of antisemitism around the world, the devastation in Gaza, and the suffering of both Israelis and Palestinians has been inhumane and unacceptable. A better, more peaceful and secure future for all must be pursued through diplomacy - not more war.

Great news: San Diego will receive hundreds of millions of dollars to support nonprofits providing vital mental health programs for our veterans. With recent, horrific mental health failures sounding the alarm, this funding couldn’t come at a more critical time.

Part of keeping our promises to those who serve is caring for their invisible scars as much as their visible ones. These grants will expand access to su***de prevention education, peer support, outreach to at-risk veterans, clinical services, and more. San Diego is home to over 175,000 veterans. I will always work to ensure they and thousands more across the country are empowered to reach out and get help from their community.

San Diego is a proud military town, home to 115,000 courageous active duty servicemembers and their families. Military service is at the root of our community and culture. This month we await the return home of the sailors and marines still stranded on the USS Lincoln for months thanks to Donald Trump’s reckless war in Iran. America knows San Diego is not a “small price to pay” for his inability to resolve it.

Federal methane standards have enormous benefits. They protect public health, curb the climate crisis, create jobs, and bolster our national energy security. Repealing these regulations will make it easier for fossil fuel companies to prioritize profits over the health and safety of our people. This is a step in entirely the wrong direction, at exactly the wrong moment.

The rule would modify oil and gas standards for the powerful greenhouse gas.

988 is a lifeline for people in crisis and I’m relieved to hear it’s finally available again for LGBTQ+ youth. As a Co-Chair of the Congressional Equality Caucus, I celebrate this achievement and will keep working to ensure this resource never goes dark again.

Laurie from Point Loma needed help updating her pension and health insurance after her husband passed away. Due to staffing shortages at OPM, her case was stalled and she hadn’t heard from anyone. My office requested an update on her behalf and within weeks, her benefits were adjusted appropriately!
