Today on the anniversary of his birth, we celebrate the life and legacy of Rainbow Honor Walk honoree Allen Ginsberg (June 3, 1926 – April 5, 1997).

A defining poet of the Beat Generation and author of Howl, Ginsberg used his art and public voice to challenge censorship, militarism, conformity, and sexual repression. Openly gay at a time of deep stigma, he helped expand the language of liberation, visibility, and q***r self-expression in American culture.
