45 years of hope, housing, and HomeFirst. We offer a full spectrum of evidence-based services to support people who are unhoused or housing insecure.

The HomeFirst Story
In 1980, a group of service providers and advocates saw a gap in homeless services. With eight families in crisis and without a place to go, these advocates set out to help, ultimately creating an agency that would meet the needs of unhoused families in Santa Clara County. Since then, HomeFirst has expanded significantly. During FY24 (ending June 30, 2024), we impacted over 10,

For many people experiencing homelessness or housing instability, pets are more than companions.

They’re family.
They provide comfort during uncertainty, consistency during crisis, and unconditional love through it all.

The Companion Animal Resource & Emergency (CARE) Fund helps remove some of the barriers that can put that bond at risk—helping participants access emergency pet support, supplies, and resources so they can stay together.

Because no one should have to choose between their wellbeing and the animal they love.

Housing stability takes more than housing alone.

Access to mental health services, healthcare, veteran support, pet resources, communication tools, basic necessities, and trusted community connections can make a meaningful difference in someone's journey toward stability.

That's why HomeFirst partners with local agencies to host resource fairs like this one—bringing essential services together in one accessible location for our neighbors who need them most.

Every partnership, volunteer, donor, and supporter helps make these opportunities possible. Thank you for helping build a community where people can find not just resources, but pathways forward.

Know someone who could benefit? Share this post and help spread the word, our next Community Resource Fair takes place on:

Tuesday, June 9th from 10:30-1:30pm

“You don’t need experience to make a difference.” ❤️

Kit Builds bring people together to pack essential items for neighbors experiencing homelessness—things like hygiene supplies, snacks, and weather protection.

One of the best parts is that anyone can participate. Parents and kids, youth groups, classrooms, sports teams, and local organizations can all come together to help support the community.

These moments don’t just provide supplies—they teach compassion, connection, and the importance of showing up for one another.

Memorial Day is a time for remembrance—honoring the lives of those who served and are no longer with us.

It’s also a reminder that for many Veterans, the journey doesn’t end when service does. Some are still facing challenges today, including the need for stable housing, support, and connection.

At HomeFirst, we believe their service doesn’t end—and our responsibility doesn’t either. Through our Veterans’ programs, we work alongside those who have served to help them access housing and supportive services that honor their dignity and experience.

Teresa is rebuilding her life — one step at a time.

After years of homelessness and struggles with substance use, she made the decision to come back to HomeFirst and fight for a different future. Today, she’s celebrating sobriety, focusing on her health, preparing for construction training, and working toward a home of her own.

Her story is a reminder that homelessness can happen for many different reasons — and that lasting change takes support, stability, and community.

Every day, HomeFirst helps people like Teresa take the next step toward safety, healing, and independence. But there is still more work to do.

See how you can support and help more people rebuild their lives at https://www.homefirstscc.org/how-to-support 💙
