We celebrated Philippines Independence Day at the County! 🇵🇭

As the Supervisor representing historic Pinoytown, it’s an honor to stand with the Santa Clara County Filipino American Employees Association, LEAD Filipino, and the Filipino Americans Coming Together in San José (FACT-SJ) Coalition to proclaim June 12th as “Philippines Independence Day” in Santa Clara County.

Filipino Americans across the U.S. and right here in our County celebrate this day not only to honor their rich cultural heritage, but also to uplift community leadership and civic engagement. The Filipino American community continues to make lasting contributions to the social, economic, and cultural fabric of our County! Maraming salamat po! 🇵🇭

Trong suốt 45 năm qua, VIVO đã phục vụ nhiều thế hệ người Việt tại Quận Hạt Santa Clara thông qua các chương trình dành cho người cao niên, gia đình, thanh thiếu niên và cộng đồng di dân.
Đây cũng là dịp để chúng ta ghi nhận và cảm ơn những cô chú, anh chị, các tình nguyện viên, mạnh thường quân và những người đã âm thầm đóng góp thời gian, công sức để VIVO có thể duy trì và phát triển trong suốt chặng đường vừa qua.

It was a joy to sponsor free dental services for our foster youth at the Hub's Annual Foster Care Awareness Month celebration. Through the Mobile Dental Team, patients received cleanings, exams, fillings, and other essential care at no cost.

Thank you to the dedicated Hub team, the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department, Bill Wilson Center, Healthier Kids Foundation, Bright Action Communities, Mt. Pleasant Neighborhood Association, and SupplyBank.org for helping make this event possible.

Together, we are building a Santa Clara County where every young person feels seen, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Trong suốt ba thập niên qua, các thầy cô giáo, tình nguyện viên, phụ huynh và học sinh đã cùng nhau xây dựng một môi trường học tập ý nghĩa, nơi tiếng Việt, văn hóa Việt và những giá trị truyền thống được gìn giữ và trao truyền cho các thế hệ mai sau.
Là con gái của gia đình tị nạn và cũng là một người mẹ, Betty hiểu tầm quan trọng của việc giữ gìn ngôn ngữ và bản sắc văn hóa của mình. Xin cảm ơn các thầy cô và các bậc phụ huynh Về Nguồn vì đã luôn tận tâm nuôi dạy thế hệ tương lai.

Happy 30th Anniversary, Về Nguồn Vietnamese Language School! For 30 years, Về Nguồn’s all-volunteer team has nurtured a community rooted in Vietnamese language, culture, and connection passing traditions from one generation to the next.
Congratulations on three decades of service and dedication to our community. Wishing the Về Nguồn family continued success, joy, and many more years ahead! Thank you for educating the next generation of students across Santa Clara County.

In recognition of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, Congressmember Ro Khanna hosted an AANHPI Mental Health Town Hall.

The Town Hall featured a panel discussion with representatives from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI), Richmond Area Multi-Services (RAMS), and the Mental Health Association for Chinese Communities (MHACC). A special thank you to our County’s Language Access Unit for providing interpretation services.

It was a meaningful discussion on culturally competent services, disaggregating AANHPI data, and challenges many community members continue to face in accessing care. Thank you to the community members who shared their stories and experiences. It was insightful to connect with residents and hear directly about how we can better support the mental health needs of our diverse communities.

People Acting in Community Together (PACT) hosted a “Families in Homes Not Detentions” Community Action event alongside Santa Clara County’s multi-faith leaders and community advocates to discuss how we can better support immigrant families across our county. Together, we discussed legal representation regardless of immigration status, available community resources, and how the County of Santa Clara, California is investing fiscal and legal resources to protect and support immigrant communities.

Founded in 1985, People Acting in Community Together is a multi-faith, grassroots organization that provides leadership training and experience to community members of many different ethnic, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds. PACT: People Acting in Community Together continues to organize and advocate for policies that center dignity, equity, and opportunity for all. Thank you to PACT, faith leaders, organizers, and community members for continuing to stand up for our immigrant communities and ensuring families belong in homes, not detention facilities.

Betty rất vinh dự được tham dự Lễ Tưởng Niệm Memorial Day do Hội Ái Hữu Cựu Chiến Sĩ Hoa Kỳ Tham Chiến Tại Việt Nam Chapter 201 tổ chức để cùng tưởng nhớ và tri ân những người đã hy sinh vì lý tưởng tự do.
Là con gái của gia đình tị nạn, ngày hôm nay mang rất nhiều ý nghĩa đối với Betty và nhiều gia đình người Việt trong cộng đồng. Chúng ta luôn ghi nhớ sự hy sinh của các quân nhân Quân Lực Việt Nam Cộng Hòa, Quân Lực Hoa Kỳ, cùng những gia đình đã trải qua chiến tranh, mất mát và hành trình vượt thoát tìm tự do.
Xin cảm ơn Hội AVVA Chapter 201, các cô chú bác cựu quân nhân, gia đình quân nhân và cộng đồng đã tiếp tục gìn giữ, truyền lại cho thế hệ mai sau những câu chuyện, bài học về sự hy sinh, lòng yêu nước và giá trị của tự do, dân chủ, nhân quyền.

The town hall will be a panel discussion with local leaders and members from AANHPI organizations who will share community insights into mental healthcare.
