For Santa Fe Junior High student Isaiah Mull, this morning started long before the first bell and in a much more exciting way than usual!
Isaiah was the lucky recipient of the Fire Truck Ride to School auction item from the annual Santa Fe Texas Education Foundation Gala. The experience was purchased by Ronnie Bedard, owner of On The Way Plumbing, and generously gifted to the son of one of his employees after learning about Isaiah's passion for firefighting.
Before the sun came up, Isaiah arrived at the Santa Fe Fire Department. During his visit, he had the opportunity to meet firefighters, learn about their equipment, explore the department's fire trucks including a vintage engine, and even slide down the fire pole!
After the tour, Isaiah climbed aboard a fire truck for the ride to Santa Fe Junior High. The fire truck came down Warpath and stopped right in front of the junior high where he was greeted by campus administrators, teachers, and classmates who gathered outside to welcome him to school!
The special morning was one Isaiah is sure to remember for years to come and serves as a great example of the community partnerships that help create unique opportunities for Santa Fe ISD students.
Thank you to the Santa Fe Fire Department, Ronnie Bedard and On The Way Plumbing, and the Santa Fe Texas Education Foundation for helping make this memorable experience possible.
