A Nissan pickup and a trailer hauling a Bobcat front loader were stolen from Reynolds Road in Lakeland.

One of those vehicles was equipped with a GPS, which was unfortunate for the thief, but fortunate for the owner and the deputies who were tasked with the investigation.

The truck, trailer, and Bobcat were located at a storage lot on US 27 near Davenport.

The vehicles were quickly surrounded by deputies and Alberto, the suspect, was taken into custody. He immediately admitted to stealing the vehicles.

Alberto further stated that he just arrived in Florida from Louisville, Kentucky. Less than a week later, he stole the vehicles and was in the process of trying to sell them.

He would have gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for those meddling deputies.

Alberto was charged with grand theft motor vehicle and dealing in stolen property.

But wait, there’s more! Our story does not end there.

Deputies discovered Alberto had several outstanding warrants from Miami (DWLSR), Georgia (FTA-cocaine possession), and Tennessee (FTA-DWLSR, speeding, and registration violation). Dude gets around.

It was also discovered that Alberto is also a registered s*x offender in Kansas, and a non-citizen from Cuba in the United States on an expired visa. Yes, ICE was notified.

Okay…now our story is finished, except for this succinct moral of the story: If you are here from Kentucky and steal in Polk County: FAFO.
