One of the biggest myths in youth sports is that lifting weights stunts growth!
Ryker has been training consistently with me for about 3 years:
• Getting stronger
• Moving better
• Gaining confidence
• Continuing to grow
The crazy thing is, I used to look down at him.. now he looks down at me 🤣
When strength training is:
✔️ Properly coached
✔️ Age-appropriate
✔️ Focused on movement quality
…it supports healthy development, it doesn’t stop it.
Strength training isn’t about lifting heavy weights.
It’s about teaching kids how to move well, build confidence, and stay healthy.
Proud of the progress Ryker has made over these last few years on top of the obstacles he has overcome!
He is currently participating in basketball and baseball and part of the Canes National Scout Team 14u!

Full ROM Squats vs ¼ Squats — What Builds Better Athletes?
Strength is joint-angle specific.
If we only train the top of the movement, we only get strong at the top.
For developing athletes, full range of motion squats:
✔️ Build real strength
✔️ Improve mobility and control
✔️ Transfer better to sports
¼ squats have a place later on—but fundamentals come first.
Depth builds athletes. Not ego.

Every rep counts.
Every sprint matters.
Train like it means something—because it does.
This is what we care about:
• Effort
• Body control
• Coachability
• Confidence
The numbers matter—but the habits matter more.

Speed isn’t just about being “fast.”
For young athletes, real speed development focuses on:
• Proper sprint mechanics
• Acceleration technique
• Strength relative to bodyweight
• Confidence moving explosively
Just playing more games or running through “speed” ladders won’t develop these qualities.
Training with intent will.

Talent gets attention.
Work ethic gets results.
Show up.
Listen.
Compete.
That’s how athletes separate themselves.
Proud of the work being put in here.
Progress isn’t always flashy—it’s built through:
• Consistency
• Attention to detail
• Effort every session
This is what long-term development looks like. 💪

Does strength training stunt growth?
This is one of the biggest myths in youth sports.
When done correctly, strength training:
• Improves coordination
• Reduces injury risk
• Builds confidence
• Teaches proper movement patterns
The key is qualified coaching and age-appropriate programming—not maxing out weights.
Strong kids are safer kids.
