Happy World Environment Day, Savannah!
Our beautiful coastal home is a treasure we must protect.
Taking care of our environment goes hand-in-hand with building a resilient, affordable city for everyone.
Please take a moment today to appreciate our parks, our river, and the natural beauty that makes our city unique. I'm spending some time outside this weekend, and I hope you get the chance to do the same.

My calendar has been packed this week, and it’s actually a great thing!
Getting out and seeing the ribbon cuttings for our new local businesses and hearing your ideas at community meetings is the best part of this job.
Savannah is moving forward because we’re doing the hard work together, supporting each other and finding that clear path to success.
What local spot or new project in your neighborhood are you excited about this month?

It’s officially June, and that always reminds me of the energy and potential our young people bring to Savannah.
It’s the time of year our local teens are signing up for the Junior Ranger programs or stepping into their very first summer jobs... this is all about growth.
To the students in our community... you're our greatest asset.
Don't be afraid to dream big, stay curious, and make this summer count.
I'm rooting for you all!

As we head into the final days of May, we're just a week away from the official start of Hurricane Season on June 1st.
Keeping our neighborhoods safe and secure is a year-round commitment, and preparation is our best defense. Now is the perfect time to review your family’s emergency plans, update your supply kits, and check in on elderly neighbors to ensure they have what they need.
Our city teams are working diligently to ensure local infrastructure is ready, but community resilience starts at home.
Stay safe and stay informed.
You can find official preparedness resources on the Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) website.

Everything we do on City Council comes down to one simple, guiding principle... leaving this city better than we found it.
From working to ensure our police department is fully staffed, so our neighborhoods remain safe, to creating pathways for our hardworking citizens to live affordably, the goal remains the same.
Progress is built on focused, daily commitments to the well-being of our community.
Thank you to everyone who partners with us to build a safer, stronger, and more prosperous Savannah for future generations.

Whenever our neighborhoods pause to remember those we’ve lost, I am deeply moved by the love and respect we have for one another.
As we observe Memorial Day, we hold the brave men and women who gave their lives so our families could live in freedom. This evening, Savannah City Hall will be illuminated in red, white, and blue as a quiet, beautiful tribute to their enduring legacy.
Please keep our fallen heroes and their loved ones in your thoughts today. I wish you all a peaceful and reflective holiday.

Welcoming the summer season alongside our wonderful neighbors is always a beautiful highlight of the year.
This afternoon, the City is officially kicking off our 100 Days of Summer programming with a free, family-friendly Pool Party at Daffin Park from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM. This initiative brings together multiple city departments to offer positive, engaging activities that equip our youth for a safe and active break from school. Gathering for music, games, and sunshine is the perfect way to start the weekend.
I encourage you to bring your family to Daffin Park today to celebrate the warm weather and connect with your community.
Enjoy a restful weekend, Savannah!

I am absolutely thrilled to share that the Summer 500 program has officially returned for 2026. In partnership with the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce, Chatham County, our local school system, and dedicated community leaders, we are working to place up to 500 high school juniors and seniors in 4-6 week paid internships beginning May 27th. Providing our students with hands-on experience and professional skill-building prepares them to succeed in their future careers.
I warmly invite our local business owners to commit today to host at least one student this summer. Bringing these bright, eager minds into your workplace helps build a strong talent pipeline and brings fresh perspectives to your team.
If your organization is unable to host a student directly, you can still support this incredible initiative by sponsoring a student to work at a local nonprofit.
I am deeply grateful for every business stepping up to help our youth grow and prosper!

The most effective way to address significant issues in our community is by working together.
If we want a strong, healthy future for Savannah, we have to make the development process smoother and ensure that housing remains affordable for the working-class citizens who keep this city running.
Real change happens when local government, private businesses, and the community get on the same page.
How do you think we can encourage better teamwork in our neighborhoods?

Exploring new ideas alongside passionate neighbors is a wonderful way to grow together.
This morning, Georgia Southern University’s Armstrong Campus is hosting TEDxSavannah 2026. This year's theme, "Shaping the Future," perfectly captures our shared dedication to building a vibrant, forward-thinking community.
Listening to local thought leaders share their unique perspectives equips us all with the inspiration needed to tackle tomorrow's challenges.
I am deeply grateful for the organizers and speakers who dedicate their time to stimulating such positive dialogue in our city.
Have a beautiful and restful weekend!
