🏅 At the opening ceremonies for the Special Olympics New York Fall Games in Glens Falls tonight to help kick off the Games as Chair of the Assembly Committee on People with Disabilities!

My son Michael joined me on stage to announce additional funding secured in this year’s state budget to support Special Olympics athletes across New York. Sharing that moment with my him made the night even more special.

Every athlete deserves opportunities to build skills, form friendships, and experience the pride of being part of a team.

Thank you to the coaches, volunteers, families, and Special Olympics team who make it all possible. Good luck to everyone competing tomorrow—we’re cheering you on! ❤️

📸 Met with Southern Adirondack Independent Living (SAIL) at my Schenectady district office to discuss their funding needs and support for services that help people with disabilities live more independently.

SAIL helps people access benefits, borrow assistive equipment, and find the support they need to stay in their homes or return to the community from a nursing facility.

As Chair of the Assembly Committee on People with Disabilities, I’m focused on making sure people have meaningful choices about where and how they live—and access to the services that make those choices possible.

Thank you to the SAIL team for sharing your needs and working to build more accessible, inclusive communities!

🎓 Pleased to attend the dedication of the Dr. Steady H. & Kelly Moono Welcome Center at SUNY Schenectady this morning!

Dr. Moono and I share a family story: our fathers valued education and taught us that once you have it, no one can take it away. He has carried that belief into his work, helping students find opportunity and a place to belong.

Pleased to present him with a special New York State Assembly citation recognizing his service to the college and our community. His friendship—and his connection with my son Michael—mean so much to our family.

🇺🇸 Pleased to meet with the Webelos Den of South Colonie Cub Scout Pack 1077 in Colonie and help them work toward their “My Community” citizenship adventure!

I shared what I do in the New York State Assembly, answered their questions, talked about how state government works, and the work I do in our communities.

Had the opportunity to meet with the Albany Guardian Society this week and talk about their work supporting older adults, families, and caregivers across the Capital Region.

Through educational programs and resources on housing, transportation, and other needs, they help seniors make informed decisions and stay connected to their communities 🏡

Helping our older neighbors live safely, independently, and with dignity is a priority in my work at the Capitol. Thank you to the Albany Guardian Society team for your time and commitment to our community!

We’ll be sharing a follow-up with the group to help keep this work moving.

🎉 Joined Our World Montessori to celebrate the grand opening of its new home in Niskayuna!

Reliable childcare helps parents go to work knowing their children have a place to learn and grow. When the school faced losing its previous location, 46 children and their families faced losing care they depended on.

Thanks to the school’s leadership, Spraragen Partners, state support, and local teamwork, those families now have a new facility with room for the school to grow.

Congratulations to the teachers, staff, and everyone who helped make this possible! Investments in childcare strengthen families and our entire region.
