The U.S. Department of War’s Personal Property Activity officially activated Sept. 9, 2026, during a ceremony at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. The Honorable Brian D. Birdwell, Assistant Secretary of War for Sustainment, attended the event alongside U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Lance G. Curtis, PPA Commander.

The new command manages the permanent change of station process for service members and their families worldwide, including household goods shipping, vehicle transport, storage, and claims support.

The movers are on the way! Here are a few important steps to help your move go smoothly:

📅 Take advantage of the seven-day scheduling window and complete your pre-move survey.
📦 Separate and clearly identify anything you DO NOT want packed.
🚫 Check with your moving company or local transportation office about items that cannot be shipped.
📝 Review your inventory carefully during the pack-out and pickup process.
📋 If you have questions or notice issues with your inventory, work with your local transportation office.
