I’ve been working myself so hard that I worked myself into a burn out. I WANTED to work, I WANTED to make progress. I just couldn’t. I let myself get so overwhelmed by the fact that I was losing traction, that it made getting back on track even harder. So what did I do?

I ACCEPTED THAT I NEEDED TO REGROUP.

I allowed myself time to mentally reset so that when I did come back, I could actually be productive. I made a plan. I didn’t try to jump back into things in full swing like I was doing before. I started with baby steps again.

Don’t feel bad about needing a break. It’s better to take a breather than get so overwhelmed that you give up. I see you.. You got this!

Are you like me? 😳
Do you struggle with worrying about getting everything done in one day?

Well, if so... I can empathize. It can be hard! But remember: What you didn’t accomplish today, can always be accomplished tomorrow and it’s much better to tackle things with your head on straight. 🤕🤕🤕

Don’t push yourself into getting something done RIGHT NOW if it means you can only give it 10%. Wait until you can give it 100%. It goes along with the thought of posting quality content vs focusing on the quantity. But honestly, it can be used with anything within your business.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t push yourself. Everyone needs motivations here and there. But pushing yourself TOO HARD will lead to burn out, which leads to you being at 10% longer than it would have if you just waited it out.

Don’t get discouraged.. 💚

The lovely and I brought our filmmaking to the next level by collaborating on a reel that got 7.6k views within the first two hours. Collaborating with a like-minded creator who shares your talent and energy is SO IMPORTANT. Why?

Because each person contributes to the project according to their strengths.

So are you ready to start your reel with a bang? 🎉

Here are 5 tips for creating a successful reel, like we did!

☑️ Collaborate within your niche: Seek out someone who is in the same industry as you. It will make coming up with content ideas that much easier AND you’ll both be on the same page.

☑️ Include a strong intro: Take time to come up with a strong hook to keep your viewer watching, and solidify the by using an audio that is trending.

☑️ Make it quick: Try to stick with 7 seconds or less. The attention span of the average person is a lot shorter than it used to be.

☑️ Think about the graphics: Think about creating a cover that makes your viewer NEED to click on your reel. (Think about all the clickbait covers on YouTube. I know you watch those..)

☑️ Handpick your hashtags: Don’t just throw in hashtags that are popular. Look for hashtags that with draw your ideal follower to your reel.

Thinking is important, but many people spend their time thinking instead of doing. They get caught up in the idea of having an idea instead of actually working on their idea. But doing is more valuable than thinking. There’s a quote that goes, “1 hour of doing something is more valuable than 10 hours of thinking.” And it’s so true! If you want to get your idea out of your head and into reality, then you need to do it instead of just thinking about it.

Think about it this way, if you do something for 1 hour, you could mess it up 9 times out of 10 and still come out with more knowledge than if you only pondered for 10 hours.

I used to be a perfectionist and make a plan of all these things I wanted to accomplish, even if the first steps hadn’t even happened yet. Essentially, I was putting the cart before the horse. ❌🐎

I started realizing that other people were gaining much more traction and getting where I wanted to be even if their logo didn’t look perfect, or their business plan wasn’t a solid one. Because while I was thinking about making my next move “perfect”, they they were just DOING. 🤯🤯🤯

Now I learned to let “perfection” go. I started working and perfecting and re-doing as I go. Cover all your basics and launch your ideas ASAP. You’ll have time to think later. Remember: “Everyday you waste with a closed business someone else is getting ahead of you.”

Let me ask you something!

Do you feel discouraged when someone doesn’t value the time and effort that you put into your business? I’ve definitely been there and I’m here to tell you that while people will continue to do so, it DOES get easier.

WHY I STOPPED USING ENGAGEMENT PODS

When I first started my social media manager journey, I heard about engagement pods and I JUMPED on them. It seemed perfect: find a group of like minded business who all have the same goal in mind (engagement), and help each other out with comments and likes.

But I didn’t do any research on it. I didn’t make sure that it would HELP my business grow and not HINDER it.

Boy, was I wrong for not double checking.

I realized that if I have genuinely good content I’m putting out there, it will attract people naturally, which is what I really wanted. I wanted comments on my posts because someone genuinely resonated with my content, not out of obligation. Also, I wasn’t ecstatic about being obligated to comment on other pod members posts either.

It just felt FAKE, because it was!

When you join an engagement pod, it’s sets the bar of engagement levels higher than what you actually have. In doing so, it makes it harder to naturally grow, which is what you want. Remember, pods can only take you so far. So focus on the QUALITY of your post over the QUANTITY of likes you’re getting.
