Tragically, our brother, Captain Michael Anderson, passed away off-duty on September 2nd, 2026. Captain Anderson served the citizens of Marion County Fire District #1 for over 20 years and still had many more ahead of him. He was known on shift as a respected, honorable, and truly enjoyable person to be around. He knew how to make a whole room laugh, with a single look. He offered heartfelt advice to firefighters, new dads, and upcoming captains in training. He leaves behind a beautiful family, his wife and three daughters. Please consider donating to help them during this unimaginable time. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated.

Mike's Local 2557 brothers and sisters would also like to thank the outpouring of support they have received from the first responder community. It is extremely significant in the way the fire service family pulls together in times like this. Stay safe everyone. We love you Mike.

🚒 From One Fire to the Next 🔥

After successfully wrapping up operations on the Lower Dry Creek Fire, IAFF Local 2557 members Captain Matt Bentz, Captain Steve Wiesner, and Deputy Fire Marshal Manny Arrellín-Lara are once again answering the call.

Today, the crew is demobilizing from the Lower Dry Creek Fire and mobilizing to the Akawa Butte Fire, where they will continue supporting wildfire suppression efforts alongside firefighters from across the region.

Wildland assignments demand long hours, challenging conditions, and time away from family, but our members remain committed to protecting lives, property, and Oregon’s natural resources wherever they are needed.

Please join us in wishing Matt, Steve, and Manny a safe assignment as they continue serving our communities. We are proud of your dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the fire service.

Stay safe, gentlemen—we’ll be cheering you on from home.

2026 Marion County Firefighter Stairclimb Team 🚒🔥

The team had an amazing time up in Seattle supporting Blood Cancer United! Those 1,356 steps on air were quite the challenge but they all completed it like champs! They bonded as a department and make new firefighter friends from across the country!
