448th Civil Affairs Battalion

Soldiers from the 448th Civil Affairs Battalion conducted a 3-day Advanced Rifle Marksmanship range during battle assembly weekend. Training included conducting self-assessments, completing seven stages of fire, and firing 350 rounds.

U.S. Army Civil Affairs soldiers assigned to Charlie Company, 448th Civil Affairs Battalion, partnered with the Philippine Army Civil Military Operations (CMO) counterparts during a Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Center-X (JPMRC-X) training exercise at Fort Magsaysay, Philippines in June 2025. The exercise focused on Internally Displaced People (IDP) evacuation scenarios and included cultural exchange opportunities designed to build rapport and strengthen partnerships.

This iteration of the JPMRC-X during Salaknib II marks the second Combat Training Center (CTC) rotation conducted in the Philippines. As part of the Army's premier regional CTC, JPMRC-X enables the U.S. Army, joint force, allies, and partners to develop skills in realistic environments and conditions. Through exportable capabilities, JPMRC-X strengthens warfighting readiness, enhances multilateral relationships, and contributes to regional security and stability in the Indo-Pacific.

In alignment with Department of Defense Instruction 5400.17 and recent Executive Orders issued by President Donald J. Trump, the 448th Civil Affairs Battalion has reviewed and adjusted its social media content to ensure compliance with DoD policies and priorities.

LTC Luke Arant, Commander of the 448th Civil Affairs Battalion, accepts the Outstanding Large Unit of the Year Award from the Reserve Organization of America in Washington DC on Oct.5, 2024 on behalf of his Soldiers, NCOs and Officers.

This award recognizes the readiness, professionalism, and the volume of missions and exercises that the soldiers of the 448th CA BN conducted over the last year; Talisman Sabre, Yama Sakura 85, Pacific Partnership 24.1, and NTC 24-07.

In addition, the 448th CA BN sent eight soldiers to Air Assault School, placed an officer aboard a Naval vessel for four months as a key member of mission staff, and conducted multiple aerial missions across the Puget Sound area aboard UH-60 and CH-47 aircraft.

The 448th Civil Affairs BN welcomes the newest Air Assault graduates to the unit! Congratulations to CPT Williams, SFC Vervaecke, SGT Gamboa, 1LT Luna and CPT Rhyan who can now lend their expertise in air mobility and helicopter support to the broader mission of Civil Affairs.

Responding to natural disasters and supporting training opportunities with our partner nation militaries in the Indo-Pacific region is often dependent on rotary wing assets. These soldiers are now prepared to use Air Assault training to help Secure the Victory!

Soldiers from the 448th Civil Affairs BN work for mission success in the Pacific with partner nations, other US Government agencies and global non-governmental organizations on a regular basis. Often forgotten, is our ability to work within the Army and other DOD Joint forces to leverage organic knowledge and capabilities. This recent example shows a knowledge exchange between one of our Civil Affairs Officers (38A) who is also branch qualified as a Transportation Officer (88A) delivering hands on training in some of our new Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs) with soldiers from the 364th Expeditionary Sustainment Command. The 364th Expeditionary Sustainment Command are experts at moving people and things across the globe, and we look forward to working with them more soon.
