📣 Willacy County is accepting bids for the Sebastian Detention Pond Project (GLO Contract No. 24-067-017-E204). Deadline for bids is July 30, 2026.

The project consists of the construction of a new 2.3-acre detention pond that will connect to and enhance the existing detention pond system, improving stormwater management and reducing flood risk in the area.

This is a $1 million flood mitigation project, awarded in late 2023 and funded through the Texas General Land Office. This project is made possible by Willacy County and the efforts of Commissioner Ernie Garcia in coordination with the Texas General Land Office.

The new detention pond will be located off South County Line Road, between County Line Road and Martin Cavazos Road.
